It depends on the said individual, not as a whole. My father is full Apache and he never talks about the past unless asked about it. I am half and I never talk about things relating to Native American unless asked about it.

I feel that pining away on past events drudges up bitter emotions and hatred. If you want to bring up the past to prove a point, then fine, the point is taken. But if you are bringing up the past to continue on about past aggressions because you despise a certain race, then it is a very bad choice on your part. How are we to get along if people bring past things up to cause uneeded conflict? My guess is that they do it to make themselves feel more VIP in nature. I have noticed a lot of people doing that more and more. How everyone has wronged a certain race somehow and somewhere.

Everyone feels hatred or other negative emotions because their ancestors were wronged by someone either by slaughter, slavery, or other injustices. What would make us a better society is to have all the chips knocked off the shoulders, the past is meant to be an inspiration for the future so we never make the same mistakes again ... not live in self pity and cry opression when there isn't any except for what me make ourselves. Seems to me everyone has equal rights in this day and age ... the only thing that separates us is racism and all the negative things that surround the term.

As relating to your question - No matter where you go there will always be some group, whether it be White, Black, Native American, Arab, Chinese, Mexican, Latino, Jewish, Irish, British or whatever that has some past life aggressions towards others. Each group of people have grievances that relate to the past and it seems that one side is always made to be greater than the other.

Everyone has their own levels of emotions towards greater or lesser forms of oppression in history. We can either learn by our mistakes and never let it happen again, thus being intelligent about it and feeling as a whole society ... or we can live in the past and hate everyone, which is of course the worst solution.

My advice to others is this ... racism is not the means of achieving a better future. Hating others because of thier beliefs or skin color is not going to solve our problems. We live together as a society, we should get along with each other because that is the intelligent choice to make. I despise racist people and think that it is a waste of time and energy to be so. By letting our hatred consume us we are indeed becoming the past and erasing what future we did have.
