Theoretically, they could. This is the beginning of the season, and that is the hope of all fans everywhere, to see their team in the Big Game.
Realistically though, they don't have a shot unless they dramatically improve. The league is not full of worst to first type of stories, and a culture of winning does not seem to exist in the Lions clubhouse. Slightly incremental improvements will not get them, or anyone else, to the Super Bowl.
Go ahead, cheer your heart out, and have fun doing it.
Go Seahawks!

Like Redman said, Matt Millen. How this guy still has job is beyond me. It seems like every season people say look out for the Lions, yet every year they suck.
Same thing this season. It looks like they will have a great offense, but it won't matter if their defense sucks, which it looks like they will. The offense can score 30 points a game, but it won't matter if the defense gives up 35.

Because they can't stop drafting wide receivers, and because they refuse to fire Matt Millen after a 24-72 record over the last six seasons. He needs to wear a ski mask when he comes to pick up his paycheck. I'd love to fail that miserably and still have a job.

Yeah dude the Lions suck. No doubt a bout it, They need a new O-Line and a young/good QB, and a new RB. Then you can talk maybe a wild card spot.

they have some talent, but they need a true, accomplished general manager. the city of detroit would be better off if matt millen was running his own fantasy football team. until then there will be alot of mediocre years for lions fans.

William Clay Ford Sr. If he turned the team over to Jr., they would compete, because his 1st order of business would be to get rid of Matt Millen.

Because they don't make the playoffs? I think they'll have a tough time making the super bowl until then.
