approximately 227 to 229 depending on how you round off.

3" = 3/12 = .25 ft.
24,779.7* .25 = 6194.925 cu. ft.
now divide by 27
6194.925/27 = 229.44

or you can convert everything to inches first since 3 inches in not a foot.
12* 12= 144 sq inches in a foot.
24,779.7 * 144 = 3568276.8 sq inches
3568276.8 * 3 = 10704830.4 cubic inches

There is 12*12*12 = 1728 cu inches in a cubic foot
There is 3* 3 *3 = 27 cubic ft in a cubic yard
there is 36 * 36 *36 = 46656 cu inches to a cubic yard

divide total cubic inches by cu inches per yard.

10704830.4 / 46656 = 229.44 cubic yards.
either way you figure it, it comes out the same. depending on how you round off.
Depending on where you are buying it will determine how it is figured. If you are planning on buying it in sacks from somewhere like Home Depot or Wal Mart. If I remember right the amount in the sacks are in cu. inches not yards.
If you are planning on getting it from a land scaping company then call and see how they figure coverage

Anyway that will give you a rough guess-ti-ment of how much it is going to take.

Approx 231yards (25000 sq ft X .25 ft =6250 sq ft) divided by 27sq ft which is the cubic ft in a yard=aprox 231. I rounded off the numbers because you are never going to spread it exactly three inches thick,its mulch not rocket science you always end up needing a little more.
