The Devi Mahatmyam and the Devi Bhagavata are 2 major texts that relate mythology about the Mahadevi. The Devi Mahatmyam related 3 mythologies about how the goddess killed demons to restore the order of the universe ( the slaying of Madhu and Kaitabha, the slaying of Mahishasura, and the slaying of Shumbha and Nishumba--I may not have the order right). The Devi Mahatmyam is part of a larger text called the Markandeya Purana.

The Devi Bhagavatam Purana is a much larger text than the Devi Mahatmyam and includes versions of myths that appear in the Devi Mahatmyam as well as many more, including myths lightly allude to in the Devi Mahatmyam.
