They say the rich need to pay their "fair" share. Well, what is fair?? 1/3 of their earnings is not enough? They say it is not "fair" that 2 people of the same sex can't get married. Well, why don't you tell me what the definition of marriage is?
Why do they think the only media outlet that is not "fair" is Fox news? I am not saying Fox is or is not fair, but do you think CNN, NBC, etc. are all "fair", and Fox is not "fair"?

You are lumping a very large group under one banner. There are actually opposing liberal views. The more vocal of the conservatives appear to belive that Fox News is the only really fair news, for the same reason that vocal liberals see it the other way. Fox news is more likely to spin and present news from a conservative point of view. CNN,NBC and Public broadcasting tend to be more liberal minded.
For the definition of marriage, open your dictionary. Be sure to read beyond the first few definitions because the word marriage is applicable to the union of both animate and inanimate objects. Taxes are pretty much one third of everyone's earnings, so it is fair that those earning more should pay in more.

Why do you label all 'liberals' into one bunch?

FYI: I don't give a hoot about where the taxes come from. I don't care if things are 'fair'. I just want them to be equal. And I don't care if you get married or not, whether you are gay or straight. It's just a few words in front of a priest.

What I care about is the IMPORTANT issues. Like..."Why does my income tax go to pay the tab on the national debt?" This is true. Income tax DOESN'T fund any other program other than paying the Federal Reserve (which, by the way, is a privately owned outfit. Did ya know that?)

Or..."Where are the W.M.D.'s?" It seems like a logical question. I'm not asking for the moon here. I just want to know why our government was so sure that W.M.D.'s were in Iraq, and now it's a 'non-issue'.

You can call me a liberal, but I don't see it that way. I just want the government to be held accountable. So many people think that America can do no wrong. Why? Any government can have corrupt individuals and pork barrel projects. Asking questions shouldn't be interpreted as unpatriotic.

You have good points. But very few Americans think independently about anything besides what their political party wants them to think. Look at how conspiracy wackos have been embraced into the mainstream politics simply because they are opposed to the current president. Even less people take the time to research issues beyond getting on the internet and going to politically motivated websites or turning on the tv and watching 'news' programs that cater to the extreme political views of the two parties.

Not everything is black and white, right or wrong, fair or unfair. Politicizing EVERYTHING according to the two parties sucks but it's easier for people that are close-minded, too lazy to use their brains, or to educate themselves to sound like they are 'activists' by following their party lines.

Read all the responses here and see that almost everyone that has an opinion about your specific points will generalize and politicize them to simple statements about how 'conservatives are selfish and only care about themselves and money' or how 'liberals hate America.' These are the same people that care more about their party than anything else and are mindlessly letting themselves be led by politicians that want nothing but to win an election.

Bruce J: "Or..."Where are the W.M.D.'s?" It seems like a logical question. I'm not asking for the moon here. I just want to know why our government was so sure that W.M.D.'s were in Iraq, and now it's a 'non-issue'.

Where are the WMDs is a good question... just remember that there were indeed WMDs in Iraq according to the UN and the American press. And not only that, they were used against civilian Kurdish population centers as reported by the world media and surviving Kurds. UN (not US) weapons inspectors discovered and catalogued thousands of pounds of weaponized chemical agents before Saddam stopped cooperating with the inspectors prior to the second war with Iraq. Not only should the US be asking the question about what happened to the WMDs but the rest of the world (and specifically the UN and the press) should be as well. Instead, the WMDs have just been turned into another poltical issue for politicians to use to say 'I told you so' as if they were never there, never a threat to people, and just a mad delusion of the current American president. But what about the original question of where are the WMDs that the UN and international community saw being used and stored?

Some of us do know what "fair" is...just the same as some conservatives.

Life isn't fair, and I would agree that taxes need to done fairly. I like the whole flat tax thing myself. Every American pays 15% of their income and we are done. I agree that rich folks shouldn't be penalized for their success. Just pay your fair share 15% and we are done. Of course the problem is that the current tax system has lots of nice loopholes that rich folks are able to take advantage of and protect their money from legitimate taxation. That's why we don't have a flat tax.

Marriage...I'm with you...I think Marriage is for Men and Women. Civil Unions...hey rock and roll with that. Being liberal and fair doesn't mean we don't share some of the same moral feelings as conservatives...it just means that we think those folks in the homosexual community deserve the same civil rights as other folks. That doesn't mean they have the right to take a centuries old "hetero-sexual" practice and make it their own. They don't.

The media is not fair and hasn't been for decades. Look at the news. Most of it is junk that they go out of their way to make up. They have about 15 minutes each night on the big three to tell us what happened. And of course they have all their stupid special reports that have no bearing on the news of the day. Media news is entertainment and they slant their message to appeal to the market they serve. It's all about money and rarely about politics.

Ultimately, you and I know that "fair" is not something that rarely exists in society. We just hope that it does from time to time.

Because they maybe more in touch with the American people than the conserves are, look at the joblessness and the foreclosures they are selfish and care very little about the American people or this country they don't care about our environment or our children they take and they take and reward themselves and than call Americans lazy even though we are more productive than any other. Oh in by the way my definition of marriage is not same sex call it something else it can mean the same but don't call it marriage let that stand as it always has for man and woman not man and man or woman and woman I am not against it just against the term in which gays would like it to be known as.

liberals like programs, and programs cost money. it's a lot easier to gain support for their proposed programs if they can just claim those programs will be paid for by raising taxes on "the rich", which are a small percentage of the population and thus not much of a factor when it comes to votes lost. i personally think it's absurd for anybody to pay more than 5-10% tax rate. after all, the government doesn't do anything to earn that money, it just takes it under threat of imprisonment and does with it what it likes. the liberals don't know what "fair is", they only claim to know, and unfortunately many people choose to agree with them.

One problem with liberals is that they try legislate not only fairness as far as opportunities, but also as far as outcomes. You can't do that. Different people and cultures work harder, longer or smarter, and have different strengths and weaknesses, including the type of culture that they choose to adopt. For example - does anybody think that the hillbilly and gangsta cultures will take you very far? When those cultures fail to achieve, is that racism or "unfair"?

Because to each person "fair" means something different, and each person is sure that their version is the right one...I personally believe you must "earn" what you get for it to be fair...but that's just my opinion.
