This is based on
(A+B)^2 = A^2+2AB+B^2

so subbing (7p+6q)^2 into the above

(7p+6q)^2 = 49p^2+ 84pq + 36q^2

step one: (7p+6q)(7p+6q)
step two: 49p^2 + 42pq + 42pq + 36q^2
step three: 49p^2 + 84pq + 36q^2

use FOIL. or just square the first term, square the last term, then multiply whats in the parenthesis and multiple it by the exponent (2)
