goldies can live 2 fifty years if they have 10 gallons each get 2 more and put them in a 55 gallon tank they look so cool
and the betta can live to 5 and yes they do go into a sleep like state. it helps if you turn off your lights at night since they dont have eye lids

Yes, most fish sleep, or at least rest, though they don't need to close their eyes, having no eyelids! We only close our eyes to keep them moist and since fish live in water, well moist eyes aren't a problem!
I caught my guppies sleeping one night. I turned off the tank light to go to bed, then woke up later and realized I'd forgot to feed them. So I got up and went into the other room and turned the tank light back on. Most of the fish were lying on the bottom of the tank on the gravel on their bellies or resting on top of the leaves of the plants. At first I was freaked out that they might be sick or something, but no, they were just sleeping. Most of them woke up and started swimming around again right away, but a few sleepy heads took a little longer to get moving. I guess those ones just aren't "morning fish". ;)
As to the lifespan of goldfish, most regular goldfish (comets, koi, etc) can live up to 200 years in exceptional cases. The average lifespan is more like 25-30 years. Most goldfish kept in bowls or small tanks (fair fish) only live 2-3 years because they die from being stunted.

If they're going to sleep, it will be at night. gold fish can live for awhile, as can beta fish. I wouldn't expect much from a fair gold fish though. Also, the plural of fish is fish, not fishes

They sleep every night when you turn their aquarium light off. They usually go to the bottom of the tank and sleep- they don't lay down or anything- they just sink onto the gravel and sleep there.

fishes do sleep but do not close their eyes. they don't have eyelids. they will remain afloat in water and light movement of the gills.
goldfish lives about 4 to 5 years if you take care of them properly.

fish Don,t sleep they rest,
there,s only one fish that has been proven that sleeps, it,s a shark,
the larger the tank the longer they will live,

I think fish sleep with their eyes open....but fish don't live that long, unless you take the best care of it.
