I am trying to find a "first" make up set for my niece who is turning ten. She is in drill team. I was looking for something with light colors - like lip gloss and eyeshadows, but i can't seem to find something between little girls and adult make up. anyone have any ideas for something for a pre-teen, just something tasteful and inexpensive.
thanks

Thanks you guys! You have given me some great ideas. The most important thing for me is, I want her to learn the right way how to wear make-up tastefully. She's really starting to come into her own now and getting away from tom-boyish things and cartoons. She's becomming a young lady. I don't think there is anything wrong with a little lip smakers gloss and light eye shadow. Thanks again!

I would like to address the grandfather who answered in. I understand your intentions and your point and is very valid, girls grown up way too fast. but...its not makeup that makes young girls get pregnant. not even looking older. the cause of that is mothers who don't teach their daughters to have respect for there looks and respect for themselves. I girl who has repect for herself will go far in life and will have less of a chance of making such a big mistake. Some girls make aweful mistakes in life but you can't blame it on make-up, music, or material influences. It all comes down to the teachings and limits of the parents. But thank you for you thoughts.

I know just the right brand.
It's called Bonnebell.

They have it at Target. It's very affordable and decent quality for drugstore makeup. I used it when I was around your nieces age, as did my friends.
I remember the lipglosses smelled really nice. The colors are very sheer and the packaging is cute, so your niece is sure to like it.
I hope this helped a bit.

Well first of all you dont want to get her "cheap" make-up becasue it wont look good or last long. I would suggest getting her Bare Minerals. You can buy the kit which is a much better deal than buying each piece seperately, but if you just want like eye shadow and lip gloss then buy it sepretely. You could take her into Sephora or Bare Essencials and they would give her a free make over to see which colors look good on her! And then you'll know. Another good makeup brand would be E.L.F - it stands for eyes lips and face. They are not gross make-up and they are all $1, believe it or not they are! You can go to www.elf.com and order kits(which in the kits you can pick whatever you want in them!) or you can order them sepretely! I think that is almost a better deal then Bare minerals. But you can pick which one! Good Luck and I hope I helped!

When i got my first makeup kit it was from Sephora. They have a section in it where there is a brand called Hard Candy with good quality makeup made just for preteens, and it smells just like real candy. I loved it, and i still do!
Hope this helped

No wonder the girls today are pregnant at 13 and 14. Let them be kids for awhile for Pete's sake. A ten year old doesn't need makeup and sure doesn't need to be pushed to grow up so bloomin fast.

i must say... when my little sister got a little girls makeup kit, it tasted horrible to her, it smeared, it melted, blah blah. so slash that. i would instead suggest getting some sort of inexpensive generic brand for women. much better, just get light colors so she wont overdo it when she expiraments:)
