For medical reasons I have to remove my husbands name off the deed on our home. The mortgage is just in his name. Can my name be added to the the mortgage even though it is a non assumable loan?

Too late for you to remove your husband's name off the deed for medical reason, it's fraud for hiding assets, they still come after you.

You can not add your name onto a non assumable mortgage.

I would advise you to consult with an attorney before changing the ownership of your home. There could be more complications than anyone here is aware of. As you state, it is possible to remove his name, but again be sure you won't have consequences in doing that. And yes you could be added to the mortgage, I suggest you call the lender and ask them how they would like to have you handle that.

I am sorry your husband is not well. Best Wishes

Almost certainly, no. You'd have to qualify for a whole new loan (with that or another bank) on your own and refinance. And you can't take him off the deed unless the mortgage is paid, but it looks like you already understand that.

i am sorry for the burden you are bearing.

ask the mortgage servicing firm you are making payments to

they might agree, if you're willing to tell them the truth

can't refer you to a law source as you didn't say where this is.
