2) Janet had some stickers. She gave Michael half of the stickers plus one sticker. She gave Michelle half of the remaning stickers plus two stickers. If she had 5 stickers left after this, how many stickers had Janet at first?

5 * $y + 5 * $x = 7

5 * $x = 7 - 5* $y

$x = 7/5 - $y


((5 + 2)*2 + 1)*2 = 30

and the answer to number two is.. I wanna say 25, but I'm not sure...

try this.. 5 x 2 +2 +12 +1= 25
right?.... I can't really explain how I got that answer though, sorry...
