Your battery is probably over 4 years old and needs replacing. Also, the battery cable connections need to be removed and cleaned every year or so. Drive your car to a local auto parts store and they will check your battery and charging system for free in their parking lot. Do it today!

Always start checking with the easiest; battery cables corroded? Take off negative (black or -), then the positive, not touching each other. Clean posts and I apply petroleum jelly on posts. Clean the connectors and reapply. Is it trying to turn over? Could be starter/solenoid. I've heard of 3 newer cars starting and not starting at random and it was a 'sensor' gone bad. Any mechanic can do a diagnostic and let you know the problem and cost. As a woman trying to do her own work, it's great idea to purchase a 'fix-it' manual for your car that lists troubleshooting for the vehicle. Good luck?

Jojo, about half of life's problems require a voltmeter to solve. Get yourself one. Then you can check the charging system on your car while it's running. It should be about 13.5 volts. If the charging system is okay, then the battery will be about 12.5 volts when the engine is shut down.

If the battery runs down over time, you might find that there's a power drain. You will see that after a while on the volt meter, but that particular problem can be hard to trace down.

either the battery is going bad or you have a small electrical draw draining the battery over a short time, if the battery is over 2 years old look into replacing it or have someone with an amp meter check for a draw between the ground cable and the battery terminal.
