Chickens are definatly omnivores. I use to keep my chickens free range. Mostly they hung out in my orchard. They ate all sorts of plants, mostly green, but they are not above sampling everything.
They ate any fruit which fell from the trees. Also of course the insects drawn to the fallen fruit. They also loved to pick blackberries off the wild blackberry bushes.
Most disturbining to me however was when they learned to hunt. I enjoy feeding the wild birds, and hung feeders out in the orchard for the wild birds. The chickens would clean up any fallen sunflower seeds under the feeders. Then the chickens learned to hunt, kill and eat the wild songbirds. That was pretty gross, so I had to stop feeding the wild birds. Unfortunatly that flock of chickens had already learned the behavior, and continued to hunt the wild birds.
They also love to eat mice and other small rodents, as well as lizards, and amphibions. They will scavenge the body of a dead animal (too large for them to kill) if given the chance.
Mostly however they just eat vegtable and insects if free ranged.
