The war on terror and the war on drugs is the same war. Somehow someone threw a political agenda into it. Criminals smuggle drugs sell drugs and are not terrorists but criminals. If you can get more favors and clear a path to smuggle drugs why not make it a political agenda

I thought I had the brilliant answer to this one, but CHARITY G beat me to it.

it's not a matter of trying to completely stop drugs and/or terroris actvity all together. As great as that would be, the wrld is too big and it is unrealistic. However if we just sit back and don't do anything, activity would rise to even more damning levels. So we do what we can to slow it down.

Neither is winnable. The first is completely misguided...regulation and harm reduction would be better than the 'war' aproach in that case...and the second is just an Orwellian soundbite to justify expansion of Presidental powers.

The war on drugs, well, we're not winning but we haven't lost yet. It could be won in a week, all we have to do is nuke those places that grow coca and opium poppys. Those plants don't grow well at ten thousand degrees in the shade.
Likewise with the war on terrorism, the muslim nutbuckets want to hold us hostage to fear, all we have to do is hold Mecca hostage. One more terrorist attack and boom, we nuke Mecca.
Perhaps I may a bit harsh, but if you want a victory, that ought to do it.

No - I don't think the objective is to win or not win - it's to maintain a certain level of security and order . . .

Some things are NEVER won.
The hope is control.

Hell, we've never won the battle against roaches. We only hope to control them.
