Last night some idiot guest on Hannity and Colmes had this to say:
We are winning the war on terror, but we are going to have to fight it for generations.
(and nobody called him an idiot?)
That doesn't sound like 'winning' to me.

If this idiotic statement were made on some obscure little channel in the backwoods, it would be understandable.
But, Fox News is the top-rated 'news channel' in the US, for God's sake!
Being non-American, could some of you explain how this (Fox News = most popular) happened? The logical conclusion would be that America is a nation where halfwits prevail. (Judging by your President, - elected twice - this is a possibility)

Can America please regain its pride and dignity, and elect Hillary in '08? (Bill being back in the White House has a certain comforting feeling to it)
PLEASE?
The world will breathe a huge collective sigh of relief.

Truthseeker:
While the US meddles and destabilises the rest of the world, we have every right to DEMAND who you elect!
Enough already!

While I don't really agree with your Hillary proposal, (she's the opposing side of the same coin that's wrong with our war-bent country) you make a good point!

Just HOW is it "winning" to be involved in a generational conflict?? I'll tell you this, though, less and less of the public is buying this line. One of the best BBC documentaries ever, "The Power of Nightmares" explains the politics of fear in America and offers some insight into this mentality. It's really informative and makes you feel slightly less frustrated!

Some of us Americans have a severe dislike for Hillary -- it has to do with her abuses of connections, power, privilege, and the law.

She had an insider in a major firm trade her commodities account.

Her law firm's records got lost when they were wanted for examination of possible conflict of interest abuses .. lost in the White House.

She arranged to fire the entire staff of the White House travel office so they could be replaced by her people.

She tried to foist a major policy change on our country while designing the whole bit in secrecy -- and when she hadn't been elected so much as dogcatcher either.

and on, and on.

FOX News is 'top-rated' because the rest of America's network television news efforts are so clearly politically biased. To paraphrase one of our Representatives, "there is only so much [offal] one can take before one has to leave."

We've had so many examples of the other networks' incredible bias -- complete whitewashing of obvious lies, omission of the facts, slanted reporting, etc. that FOX is winning without much effort.

Btw, our "Democratic" party seems to have a habit of nominating liars and worse.

Al Gore invented the Internet and then went on to hoax the world about human caused 'global warming'. John Kerry had to get his honourable discharge from the US Navy by Presidential intervention [from Jimmy Carter, three years after Kerry left the Navy] and NEVER has come clean with the voters about why.

Bill Clinton plainly lied about chasing other women, about campaign financing [Asian money via Huang], and so many more things. He went to the trouble of hiring top drawer psychologists to make sure his speeches appealed to everyone -- knowing that his policies couldn't possibly fullfill his appeals to them all. {Hillary does the same -- probably same psychologists, too.}

Which sigh of relief would that be if Hillary is elected?
It sure wouldn't be an economic sigh of relief here in America, we do not need higher taxes. Europe might sigh with the relief of not having to try to keep up with those pesky Yanks economic growth -- but China and India are going to fix that for you anyway.

Terrorism is an everchanging form. It's not something that can just automatically be shut down. He was certainly right when he said it's generational. Just like the American war on drugs that have been occuring for years on end...it's a matter of combating it but it's not something that can ever be won.

Please, tell me you're not that stupid. That statement is true. We are making ground in the War on Terror, but right now we are only fighting two out of three generations where hate for the free way of life is ingrained in their life. The generation that we are not fighting are those of children. They have been raised to hate anyone who doesn't agree with their way of life, so much so that we can not save all of them. The hope is that as time goes on the number of children being raised as radical Islamists will diminish, and there for the amount of terrorists will fade.

Hillary in '08? Wow, I don't think I will even start on that one. Hillary would mean shame for the US (you need only to look at her campaign scandals to know why), and I pray she will not be elected.

"regain its pride and dignity and elect Hillary in '08? "

You're not a citizen of this country, yet you propose to tell US how to regain our dignity, and pompously tell us whom to elect ? I care not what the world thinks of our President, only what the people of our country think.

Fox is entertaining, that makes it the most watched.
It's like American Idol is the most watched show, doesn't mean they are good singers, just means that the show entertains.
If you take Fox to be ironic, it's quite amusing.
