I live in a two story house with a basement. I have a laundry shoot on the second floor which travels downward into my basement where my washer and dryer are. After filling it full of cloths, I've discover its clogging up somewhere between the basement and 2nd floor. I've tried several homemade devices to try to unlodge my cloths, but they seem to be really stuck. Anyone have any suggestions.

remove all that you can from the basment end, and the 2 nd floor, take a broom handle and tape a wire hook
[make one out of a wire hanger,]
to the handle end, use this to pull all you can out, if theres still some stuck, you will have to use a long pole from the 2 nd floor to push it out,

Boy, does this bring back memories. When I was a kid, my grandmother would tie one of my ankles to a sheet and lower me down to unblock the chute. When I gave the all clear she would release me into the pile below, great fun. These days she'd probably be in jail for child endangerment. RScott

I remember my brother doing the same that R Scott says for an Aunt of ours. It was great fun for him.

tie a rope around one of the kids ankles and send them down with a flashlight.
