I think that if Martin Luther King, Jr. was alive he would be happy that we have made progress from the Jim Crow era....BUT.... as far as rap music and the black crime rate I believe that he would want it to change for the better....because there was a point in time when blacks all were unified and we took a stand for one another....BUT...now it seems more like we try to bring one another down....I think that blacks need to take into consideration that people have fought and die for us to have freedom....so....I believe that we as black are obligated to get out and become a positive attribute to society.

I believe that he would be ashamed and appalled by what had transpired here. He would probably make an issue of the black crime, though some black people are just being labeled criminals by others, it still is not fair for some one to assume that all black guys are criminals.
On the issue with rap music, I think that he would embraced it if it did not contain any lyrics that is disrespectful to other people, or degrading women, or anything involving drugs and killing other people. Dr. King fights for equality, but there are black people out there that just doesn't respect of what Dr. King had fight for.
Also, Dr. King wouldn't be like Al Sharpton, who thinks that he is the police of anything that involves black people being discriminative. This country still have freedom of speech even though it might sounds outrageous, but it is still freedom of speech, it doesn't means that everything some one say is discriminative or hateful towards black people.

Martin Luther preached against segregation. Why wouldn't he feel equally unsupporting of "ANY CRIME"? Why did you only mention black crime?
Music is music; some is good, some is not so good. That's how'd he feel.

He would likely feel that much work is still needed to rid the country of race-related crimes and segregation. He wouldnt only address black crime. He would address still-existing unequal access to qualilty education and resources and try to get to the bottom of why people post one sided questions like this and fail to understand what role they play in promoting racism by continuing to promote racism.
He probably wouldnt comment on rap, much like he wouldnt comment on TV shows like the Soprano's, etc. that promote violence because it is also a form of entertainment for the people that enjoy it, contreversial or not.
GEM: Most blacks do not "blame whitey," please do not stereotype us. Doing so would make you just as ignorant the the asker.

First I will assume you meant, Martin Luther King Jr.
And I think he would be appalled and ashamed that this is what has become of the truths he sacrificed his life for.
He preached personal responsibility & equality for all, not blame whitey.
He was an inspiring great man, and I think he would be as upset as the other educated and enlightened "brothers" (like Bill Cosby) are.
I also think if still alive he would be organizing rallies in support of equal rights for homosexuals too. Discrimination is discrimination is discrimination.
Humans will always live dire existences until they quit blaming things on others and learn that the only thing you can fix or work on, is yourself.
It's not the white man, it's not god, it's not satan, it is MAN's inhumanity to man.

He would hate any crime and wouldn't discriminate between races...don't you know that's what he stood for? Equality.
Why did you only label "black crime"? Why not all crime? I think we know the answer to that, race trolling, eh?
Rap music, I think he'd like some and not other.

I think he would be ashamed. It goes against all he hoped and "dreamed" for. That man had a good head on his shoulders. He went about trying to achieve change in the right way.
