I think we do. I know towards the end of the school holidays my son was becoming bored, and money was an issue, so I suggested we alll went for a walk. We live at the top of some woods and are surrounded by farms and fields and I just thought it would be a nice little trip out.
His friends weren't keen, so it ended up just being my two children and myself, and I don't think my son was anticipating enjoying himself.
But he came back with pine cones, acorns, some early blackberries. he saw the trees he and his class had planted in primary school in memory of a much loved teacher.
We saw some late lambs, a black cat, which spent time with us and allowed us to make a fuss of her, cows, a field full of bales of hay.
We came across a bench that had been carved from some fallen trees damaged in a storm a couple of years ago. We heard birds, marvelled at the pine trees that are older than any of us and still standing.
And it cost nothing. He came back and talked non stop about the day out, cooked his blackberries and made a nice crumble for us all. He has his pine cones and acorns beside his laptop and has a new interest in trees.
And I felt they had both learned a life lesson, that the things we take most for granted cost nothing to look at and will be there long after we aren't

You mentioned Vehicle ! And the Light went on, some years back, but so real to remember. I was left without one, when he was transferred out of State. The girls had gone to College. and I was looking for work since funds were very low and the house did not sell . It was walking for groceries, and would buy very little, they had to be carried back. Ride the buss to interviews. Then I made some money and there was a bike to get to the store, the basket held some groceries, not much, and milk was out of the question, it takes too much room. Well we survived, and the girls are well educated and live their own lives now. Being without a vehicle, is not easy, the world becomes very small. The vehicle is a necessity, I am sure you appreciate yours now that it is working again. I too appreciate the vehicle. Amazingly I am at the same point now the house has not sold, and I need a Car

No. All citizens should be granted the opportunity to obtain these things, and more. However, if you choose to be such an outrageous jackass that noone can stand to be around you, you refuse to make even the minimum contributions to society, and you fail to follow the laws of society, then why should we guarantee food, shelter, and clothing? It is called personal responsibility. You make your decisions, and you live with the results. This is the basis of a free society.

Yes, we take basic things for granted,
I once had the misfortune to break my right arm and fingers, cast for 6 weeks, not much trouble really, but have you tried shaving with your left hand, or using toilet paper? how about driving, cooking, the shower, and everything else we take for granted with both hands?
