I want to start by saying that is a great question. Some relationships with parents and children are terrible. Most parents work all day and go to school at night. They end up staying home alone or staying with a relative until his/her parent/parents come home. Usually when that happens there is no guidance or discipline. The child needs attention from their parent/s and love and they can't get that if their parent/s are working long hours, late hours or going to school at night.

You have the single parents who have to work long/late hours just to make ends meet. The child usually rebels because either his/her mother/father is not there. That usually turns out terrible. That is were most teen pregnancies and gang banging comes into play.

You have the parents without a backbone. They let the child control them. The parent should run the house. Parent can't be a friend to their child/children. Some parents need to stay in their places when it comes to raising a child. If the parent steps out of line, the child will eventually do the same. Parents are the examples, the child will follow behind their parent.

Babies are having babies which means they end up leaving the child with it's grandparent. Most grandparents are older and tired or raising children. Most grandparents aren't going to discipline the child or give the child the right attention it needs.

The next is technology. It's a great thing for adults and adults only. Kids/teenagers should be monitored while they're on the computer. TV today is down right terrible. A child could see anything on TV at anytime. You turn to VH1 around 4pm, you might see two men kissing on Next (A child should never see that). Some of the things on TV should not be played at a certain time of the day.

God is not in a lot of homes. Some people don't care about church or God. Most schools took prayer out. Some people are ashame of God. I understand you have some disgusting preachers out there, but not everyone is like that. If some parents have their child/children in church, it might cut down on some of the teen pregnancies, gang banging, teens running away, teens using drugs and teens committing suicide. God is Love and there is no Love out there these days.

It's only going to get worse because most parents today are between 14-18. It's hard being a teenager let alone raising a child while you're a teenager. It's a cold world out here and most people are only out for themselves. This world is getting worse by the day. All we can do is pray and if you're a parent raise your child up right.

I personally think its bad. Parents let their kids do whatever they want just because they scream or whatever long enough about it. I see 11 year old girls wearing make-up and talking on cell phones, and I remember I couldnt wear make-up and have a cell phone until I was 16, even then my parents thought it was a little young. Mind you, Im not ancient, Im 19. I think parents need to start being parents again and set rules to stick to, no, you cant do what "everyone else is doing" and its not acceptable when you're 12 yrs old to wear a mini skirt and more make up than Dolli Parton, nor is it ok to have Myspace, etc. If the kids dont like it, too bad, they have to deal with it, thats life.

Hello,,with my Son, he has enrolled into some website for learning how to be a REAL JEDI KNIGHT ! Now he has not visited for the whole summer, he lives with his mom, she was arrested for drunk driving last year, I have not drank alcohol since 1986, and I don't do drugs, but she spent $40000 on coke when her parents passed away, some use for inheritance, but I never married her so my son did not have my name for a long time due to some court document not being filed correctly, but I'm the bad guy for saying no to some of his wantings. I was called a hypocrite by him for saying GOD loves you and so do I. The future of my relationship is unknown and the State of OHIO has no interest in helping me either. I contacted the Governor's office and went full circle with the it is not my job get someone else to look at this. I pushed the child endangerment issue but no one cares. The local V.W. Child Services Agency won't even let me talk to a rep. the woman that answered the phone told me to get a lawyer,,famous last words of the ripoff system.Who should I vote for in this country of taxation without representation? The Father's of this country are getting the brunt of the misguided court system at the expense of hoping their children grow up and visit before they die!

these days there is no discipline ..either in the home or at school not allowed to spank the kids cause it is abuse..... kids of today live in a world where almost anythings goes and all they get is a slap on the wrist................parents don't have the control that they had 10 years ago.............and because of this relationships between parents and teenagers become strained.... and we will continue to be neg until schools and parents have the right to discipline kids ...
