I have a Ford F-250 diesel 2004 Right after the warranty ran out ,the engine lost power and smokes out of tailpipe.I was told it was a defective part to bring it in to Ford Midwet City Ok they replaced their defective part and charged me 1343.00 labor.A week later it was doing the same thing ,Brought it back and they put it on the computer for 90.00,said there was nothing wrong , I left there and did not make it 15 miles when the light came on and I lost the gauges, lights, radio EVERYTHING, I limped into Joe Cooper Ford in Shawnee Ok (where I purchased this $40,000 truck ) which they replied your alternator is fried!! They said it was just a fluke that it happened right after their truck service dept put it on their computer. It is sitting in their parking lot unless I want them to fix it for another $400.00.I need to talk to someone with some kind of authority at Ford, the service people are of NO help and I just don't know where to look anymore at this point .

Unfortunately Ford had a lot of problems with the 6.0 L Power Stroke. They have got into a major p*ssing match with Navastar. The engine has been replaced with a different model. It is now a Navastar 6.4 L.

Problem is taking it to three different places---all you'll get is a lot of finger pointing and pass the blame...best to have it fixed for now---maybe somewhere cheaper?, save the old parts/alternator and save all the receipts, document everything. You might try talking to the dealer/owner of the dealership but they'll probably side with the service dept. No easy solution and it could just be coincidental that the alternator went bad unless the first place shorted it out somehow in their repairs. I would go back to them for any possible fault. Check with the Ford factory service rep in your area for any possibility of a rebate on the first repairs if they have a known problem---sometimes they use a "goodwill policy" to extend the warranty. The dealer service manager can give you a contact number for them or call Ford customer service.

the original problem sounds like injector pump but you may have rocker problems and i believe they have shorted out your alternator loosing enough diodes too not be able to charge

I think I would try to find an attorney that can give you the information about the "lemon law". Or go to "small claims" court.

Good Luck!!!!
