The people vote, the people don't vote; the people get duped while few don't; people sign the mortgage; people do just about everything wrong and I guess get what they deserve...humans, run governments..some nations kill them when out of control,,,,fortunately we have elections to rid ourselves of them but few are informed and many do not bother to vote...the people's apathy is the problem not the governments...too bad many lose sons and daughters because of the governments elected by the people. For the people is not the government we get.

Hard to say, considering the *choices* we're given at times, I'd say it's government that's the problem. Take the Democrats and the war. They campaigned last year on how they were going to pull us out of there. Now, with things going worse than ever, they're talking about "staying the course" the same as President Chimpy. Conversely, take the Republican candidates for President. Not a one of them is a true conservative Republican. They're all warmed-over middle-of-the-road non-committal milk toasts, none of which want to take a real Republican stand on any of the issues.

Sort of a false choice question. The GOVERNMENT is the PEOPLE! The Founders were aware that people could be short sighted, venal and downright crooked. Given that, government would be the same. So they wrote up a Constitution that operated on the principle of 'Powers Granted'.....government officials, elected or otherwise, couldn't legally go beyond that limitation...not that they don't try as we've seen with the antics of the Bush Junta. The 'hated' ACLU has held the government's feet to the fire for almost 100 years forcing it to abide by the Constitution or, 'We'll see 'ya in court'! They catch hell from the right wing talk show bozos because of this, but as they say, 'Freedom ain't free'! Someone has to stick their neck out even if they get it wrong from time to time. Have no fear...in the end common sense prevails...Is this a great country or what?

For those of us who do vote and our elected candidate does not fulfill his/her campaign promises, then it's out of the peoples hands and it's up to the government to make the choices for us, so in the long run it's the government that's the real problem. Once voting is done, no matter how many get out there and vote, that elected official has a duty to represent the people, with the people's best interest in mind, and if that official does not do the job with We, the people best interest in mind, then that official, no matter what rank they hold, should be removed before more harm is done. In today's society no one wants to get involved, it's easier to look the other way and just count the days until we can make a change by voting and I only hope that everyone pays a little better attention to what each candidate is made of, look at their past and see what they have done for the good of the people of their communities and states, not base their opinions on what all these debates are all about and what they are saying on the campaign trail, because right now they are going to be saying what you want to hear to get you to support and vote for them. Let their past record be your guide to who is best suited as our next government.

The system of government is great; however, the people running the government are not so great. Although, I do not agree with much that is going on currently, some of the blame goes to "we the people". We have not held our government accountable to what they said they would do, we have not held them accountable for all of the wrong and corrupt things that they have done and we have not taken the kind of stand that is necessary to make them listen.

Unfortunately, we are partly to blame. Our government is suppose to represent the people and if they are not, we are suppose to make them. If they will not listen to what the people want, we are suppose to get them out of office. We have not done so.

The problem is the corruption of most elected officials and the apathy of many people in this country. Many people have paid and will pay the price for our ignorance and apathy. What people fail to realize that if we do not do change, it will eventually touch us all personally.

God help this country! God help us all!!!!

The Government IS the People.

The problem we have right now is the fact that those who do not believe in the power of the Government to do good are abusing it and then turning around and saying, "Look, government doesn't work."

Just like anything else, garbage in, garbage out. The Government is as only good as the people running it and the expectations of the people. Republicans have such low expectations of Government, why the hell do they want to run it? Bill Maher said last night that nerds should be running the Government and he's right. You know, SMART people.

And we should be using checks and balances.

The form of government and the people who are sent to run the government are determined by the popular culture. If the majority of people think freedom isn't that great of a concept and we need government to control us and give us what we want and need, then the people who run government will take that philosophy with them.
But if most people think freedom is a good thing, and a limited government that is dedicated primarily to defend our freedom, then the people in government will keep us free.
The problem is government allows some people to exploit others, so more government means more exploitation.

It's the people because they form the government. In order to reverse problems, the people need to have an ambition to change but sometimes this is difficult because government legislation is often hard to eliminate.

Your English grammar is less than perfect. Your logic is in the same toilet.
In the US the people are the government. Neither is a real problem.

Seeing that you're a Canadian, and not even eligible to vote in the US, why do you pretend to be an American?

The word troll comes to mind...
