in iraq, I made many miles in convoys to reach areas where I had a mission. I often travelled by myself, so relying on the kindness of strangers (other soldiers, 82nd airborne, 101st, 3rd ACR, 1st Cav, 3rd ID, 1st ID, and many reserve units), to help me with my equipment. I had a large amount of it.

because I did so many missions without support, no place to sleep for example (I spent about 8 hours sitting in the rain on top of my equipment, as the commander of FOB Junction City would not put me up for the night, and the temperature was dropping into the 30's) I reflected on the spiritual side of humility and what it really means to be cast out, and unwanted.

I also did foot missions in and around FOB's across Anabar Province outside the wire under the watchful eye of the guard towers to conduct my mission requirements knowing that if they were not watching me, and I were not on my guard, I would die a horrible death. And I was mindful of the watchfulness of the LORD over his saints.

I had to draw down on, and was starting to kill people when they just surrendered or stopped their attacks for which I was so greatful. I never had to shoot anyone while I could see the whites of their eyes. I was mindful that God works miracles in the midst of things and God is able to protect, both them and me.

But perhaps the greatest of things, was the doctrine of the bible that I know, committed to heart that kept me from doing the wrong thing for right reasons, and kept me doing the right thing even though 2 years out of iraq, it still costs me everything including my career with the military.

If this is the cost to Love and Serve the LORD, it is a small price to pay.

I am just one of those boring people who spout the phrase "what goes around comes around," and that is where a lot of my faith resides. I believe if I do my best by at least a few others, a few others may do their best by me.

I believe in eternal spirit, which is simply life itself in all forms, and that it also ascends and descends to and on many levels, back and forth, rarely static. Specific situations in my life have often called for prayer, and then I pray the best way I know how, which is usually to think of the good and thank the spirit for it, then pray my request, then thank and praise again. Which may sound suspiciously like religion to some I'm sure, but I can also assure you it's different. I already did a long compare and contrast.

So! may the force be with you...

A man who is suffering from severe stomach ache goes to a doctor but by that time the clinic was already closed and the doctor started for home. The man requested the doctor to treat him but the doctor replied that the clinic was already closed and he could do nothing. But still the man requested him a lot. So the doctor said that his house was near from there and asked that man to come along with him till his house. But the man said he could not bear till that time. So the doctor took a tablet from the pocket of his coat and gave it to the man and told him to just put it in his mouth and not bite or swalllow it. The man obeyed and they walked till the doctors house came. When they reached the house, the doctor asked the man to come in for treatment, but the man said that his pain was gone and thanked the doctor and went home. The doctor smiled to himself.
Actually the doctor did not give the man a tablet but just gave him the button of his coat pocket. But the faith which the man had in the doctor removed his pain. That is the power of faith.
Another example......
One day all the villagers prayed god for rain on the next day. They all assembled on the next day to see if it would rain but only one little boy came with an umberella, that is faith!
Similarly faith plays a major role in our life. Without faith, there is no tomorrow. Love, admiration, breath, desire..........every thing is faith. A farmer has faith that it would rain atleast that season. A politician has faith that he would win atleast in that elections.Life is faith.........

If I started writing all the things God has done for me and my family, I would need more space to write about it, but I will just write, that I believe that our Lord God, is everywhere for the ones who believe in him, and if we are still alive is because he is not ready to call us Home. I have had to endure Sicknesses that once the doctors could only do so much for me, but by the grace of God, I am still here to write it down, once, I had a Kidney infection, that it required me to be in the Hospital, untill my infection, had gone away. I could go on and on with all the illnesses i have had, but I will stop here and say that God for some reason still wants me here on this earth, and he knows when my time will come. I have a lot of Faith, and that will never change.

Every day of my life my faith helps me. But I will tell you about one specific situation. I was self-employed, divorced, with two young children to raise. I needed surgery that would keep me out of work for 6 to 8 weeks. If I had the surgery, I'd have virtually no income for those weeks. If I didn't have it, I'd become sicker and risk losing my health and eventually my life. But I had two children to think about, so I turned it over to the Lord and had the surgery. I had the surgery on a Wednesday. That Sunday, after church, the head Deacon at my church came to the hospital to visit me with his wife. They proceeded to tell me that a "love offering" had been taken up in the church to help me through the hard times. When I was out of the hospital I stayed at my mother's for two weeks to recuperate. During that time more people sent me cards and money, and food. By the time I was able to go back to work, which was a total of 5 weeks, I had received about $100 more than I would have made working during that time. I was able to pay my housing, car payment, utilities--every bill that I received during that period, and still had enough for food. I was so blessed by not only the way God took care of us, but how much those people showed their love and caring to my children and me. I knew then that He would provide my every need for the rest of my days, and He has. Don't misunderstand, I'm not saying He provided all my wants--but He truely has provided a way to meet every need.

With faith, I feel assured of an afterlife. Before a surgery, I could recite a prayer and so keep at bay my worries because of faith. Also, a minister could see by my attitude that I had faith and he could depend upon me in a simple situation of church.

Faith is your sole companion in all walks of your life.--'A Mother to your wants, a friend in your difficulties , a persistent and tranquil counsellor and mentor, chasing away with her radiant smile, the clouds of gloom and fretfulness and depression, reminding always of the ever present help , pointing to the eternal sunshine, she is firm, quiet and persevering in the deep and continuous urge that draws us towards the integrality of the higher nature.--Sri Aurobindo'.

I am an Atheist, yes.

But doesn't mean I don't have faith. I just have a different kind of faith then the average Christian.

Yes see, I have faith in myself, self motivation. When I'm feeling down about something, I have faith in myself that I can make things better.

Faith, yes, God, no. :)

well....i dont really have faith in things as such.... i'm more inclined to the principle of karma when the results were not in my hand and if im going to expect results for my work,i believe in "do your BEST.god will do the rest"policy... i pray a lot. but dont expect positive results.but i have known people telling about the importance of faith and their specific situations. i believe that faith makes wonders, but i'm too pessimistic to hold that in practice.

if something i willed dint happen. i would initially be sad, but then my faith would help me. After a few days, i realise that it had all happened for good or maybe i wld pretend so. But, faith certainly helps us to be stable in life & not break down in difficult situations.
