Depends on the teams playing. Usually no, but if it's the Toronto Blue Jays against the New York Yankees, then yes.

Not necessarily for the other team, but take Olympic hockey for example. I may root for a player playing on another countries team.

If I was Aussie I would pray that we get beaten at cricket; if I was Brazilian I'd pray we get beaten at football; if I was African I'd pray we get beaten at athletics, boxing, basketball, football; if I was South African I'd pray that others beat the hell out of our colonial arrogance what white is right. I love the other side to come with its best against the best where I attach. That's generosity for the other.

Good question, I was thinking maybe if I had a Friend or was dating someone on the other team, but I think the opposition would add some spice. Well done sir, a star for you!

only if there's a valid reason for me wanting to cheer for another country.. e.g. i think that the way they play the game is more honest / they train harder / etc. .. besides that i think i'd still always choose to root for my own country because of patriotism..

I've been trying to imagine if I would... and all I come up with is a pretty emphatic 'NO'... but I have rooted for other countries when mine is not involved.
