You say they talk behind your back, but are friendly to your face? They are not your friends. They are insecure little twits that have no self esteem and get off on making someone innocent feel crummy to make themselves feel better.
You need to find new frineds. Don't look for popular people. I found my best friend on the first day of 7th grade. We were both 12 and had been assigned to the same homeroom. We were given an assignment and I still remember the first thing she said to me. She sat behind me, she tapped me on the shoulder and said "do you understand how to do this?" I answered no, and we talked about it a little. We are now 39yrs old and went to our 20yr class reunion last summer (2006) and have been best friends for 27yrs. Unfotunately she now lives in Georgia and I live in Michigan, but we talk on the phone at least 3 times a week.
My point is, you WILL find friends. And when you become an adult, you will find that most of the people you thought of as friends aren't even a part of your life anymore. You will be fortunate to have 2 or 3 close friends. I have 2 and I wouldn't trade them for 50 so so friends just to have more. Think quality not quantity!

Dump those "so called" friends. Ask yourself, Am I a follower or a leader? Why would you want to stay with those people? Move on. Be confident. Find people you really like and want to be around or make your own group of new and true friends.
Best wishes.

So the only people who like you are talking behind your back! Doesn't sound like they like you as much as you think or they let on. Dump them and have friends who deserve you!

They are not truly your friends. You can say something if that will make you feel better, but that won't change anything. They may be more discreet about talking about you behind your back, but they'll still do it. They are not true friends. Dump them.

I'd just like to point out that if your firends talk behind your back and say mean stuff then they aren't being very nice to you at all. If you are happy with them and enoy their company then they are friends worth having....but if they make you feel bad about yourself then maybe your better off without them....

everyone talks behind eachothers back sometimes..im sure you do it too. although its not right for friends to do it all the time, if a friend did it once because you said something that offended them or something, then let it slide. if its continuous for no reason, then talk to them and tell them you dont like it, friends shouldnt do that. if they apologize and never do it again, then forgive and forget, but if they laugh it off and immediately begin whispering when you leave...look for a new bff.

Dear Clara.
I answered this question for you a while ago.
I will however repeat it.
If your friends are talking about you behind your back. Then your walking in the right direction.
(You sound intelligent enough for that. ) Bob.

since they are your only friends, you should confront them and ask them why they were talking behind your back. If they are sincerely sorry, forgive them, because we all gossip sometimes. If they continue, tell them you don't want to hang out with them anymore.

If they are truly your friend they wouldn't talk behind your back. You didn't mention your age, tho. That type of behavior is pretty common if your still in school.
