Harry Truman was the president at the end of WWII, this is important b/c he is the man who gave the order to drop the atomic bombs. FDR died April 12, 1945 just months before the end of WWII. He suffered a brain hemorrhage and died while getting his portrait taken (the famous Unfinished portrait of FDR). After about 12 years as president, FDR was very sick, but most of the public didn't know (remember this is before the media pried into public peoples lives!) So his death was a shock. After that Truman took over and ended WWII with Little Man and Fat Boy!
