The American housing market bubble in my opinion is going to collapse the world economy for a year or two.

I think the US is headed for a recession. Actually, the recession has probably already begun... I'm amazed it took this long, because the country has been outspending and outbuilding itself ever since Sept. 11, 2001.

If there is a recession in the US, it is bound to pull down many economies around the world. No question about this, given the importance of the US market to exporters around the world (especially its biggest trading partners China and Canada). However, some countries will only feel a small pinch, not a full recession, and others will actually find their economies benefiting. It's hard to envision Russia, with its new found energy wealth, suffering too much with a US recession....

Why is it that Americans think because their economy is on its way down the proverbial drain, that it is "global"..of course it will hurt globally but the rest of us just may recover while one unnamed nation may not for a very long time....and our bubble has yet to "burst" and is in fact growing.

I don't think so - world is not dependent only on U.S. economy these days. There are very strong Asia economies and few Europe economies. I think 1929 Black Thursday will not repeat again.
