I mean, shouldn't they have done that 10 years ago?

i'm with Vader on this one. The pirates have stunk up the place since the early 90s. just once i'd like to go to a ballgame and be able to say "i'm going to see the buckos" not "i'm going to see the braves, or the sox, or the yanks"

Too bad they're not as good as the Astros...

(Ha!) (what an insult that was to the Pirates...the Astros suck right now...)

Yes I am. You cant blame him for the current baseball economic system, or ownership who wont/cant spend enough on payroll to field a competitive team. I think the Bucs now have the core of a good young ball club, and I'm excited about their young rotation. Perhaps Mr. Littlefield and ownership just had a rather bad, behind the scenes blowup recently? Sometimes it happens.

I understand it.... though I dont understand why they did it so late in the season with no where to go... I understand why they let him go he gave away all the young proven talent and he just builds up the minor league system then gives it away and repeats
