yes definitely!
if we respect other people, they'll in turn respect us, but if we disrespect them, they'll in turn disrespect us
the bible says in Galatians and Matthew that what ever we sow is exactly what we're gonna reap
sometimes it seems that we respect others, but we just get disrespected in turn, but it's just a matter of time, and one day we'll get respected, because the bible is always right when it says something...
sow respect! reap respect!
sow answers! reap answers!
sow points! reap points!
sow best answer! reap best answer! (lol joke)

I'm a firm believer in giving respect as long as respect is given back. Just like treating others the way you'd like to be treated.

That doesn't work all the time, but if people show me respect, then I try to respect them in return.

Yes, if the other one knows that I dont respect him or any one else, he / they will never respect me . thus if i have to gain respect from others I should learn to respect others.

Its one of those things where it kind of depends on the situation and the attitude of the other person.
Why should i give respect if they wont and vice versa!!
And that whole thing "respect your elders" yea well... that also has a big ? over it as sometimes the oldies assume because you are young you dont know as much and have not been through as much as they have

Respect means different things to different people.
To the middle class, respect means treating people courteously and cordially, and being mindful of them.
To the Hip Hoppers, respect means fearing someone and letting them have their way because you are afraid of them.
So what kind of respect are you talking about?

I respect until I am given a reason not to. But you have to give it to get it.

It usually helps...but I wouldn't pretend to respect someone just to get their respect in return.

Most definately. Without respect there is nothing....a void. If I don't respect you and vise versa I won't give you the time of day. Your opinion is of no value to me.
