It is a yellow bellied slider and the shell is 5 inches long and is quite heavey.

Yellow-bellies will hit about 10" long, and it will take 7 to 15 years.

You have to take a few things into consideration. First, it depends what kind of terrapin you have. Do you mean a Diamondback Terrapin? In the wild they can reach almost 6 inches at the very longest. However, if you have a small tank and you keep it in there, it wont grow to it's maximum length. Any aquatic turtle you have in a small tank, will not be able to grow to it's full potential.
