The marketed "synblend" oils such as Motorcraft's, Mobil Oil etc are blends of conventional petroleum and synthetic oils. So you can mix them but should follow the specifications in your car owner's manual as to the weight of the oil, oil change interval etc. I prefer using the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) oil filter brand. At a Ford dealer for example, you automatically get the Motorcraft synblend and a Motorcraft oil filter change for about $22 during their periodic promotional service events. Why go to a "quick lube" and take chances with that $5000 engine referred to in the answer above??

Almost all oils will mix just try to keep the same in the engine and if it needs more than a quart change the oil anyway. Even with synethic I change oil often $5,000 motor or $5.00 a quart?
