Maybe you took on a bit of body lean when you did the head check? On quick-turning sport machines, it doesn't take much lean to put you off....

You moved the handle bars looking back. Out of body experences while quite rare should not happen while riding a bike. So a little more training is necessary yo remain in your lane while looking reward. Please be very careful that can get you hurt or worse...

causing the bike to change lanes.kind of like when you first learned to drive a car .when you did a head check in a car and turned the wheel just a bit same thing but on a bike it can kill you . just be more aware and you will be fine

Take an MSF riders course. They address this very issue. Look left, turn left. Look right turn right.
