Homemade hybrid! Do yourself a favor quit thinking. The hybrid systems run up to 600 volts 36 cell batterys that cost $5,000 two electric motors an interal combustion motor and miles of electrical wires and voltage inverters. And what are you going to about A/C and Power Steering and brakes when the I.C. motor is turned off. Bet you are not thinking about electric motor now?

There was a segment on 60 minutes some time ago. Somebody in california specialises in conversions of this kind.He claims GM and others won't build E - cars because there is not enough money in it. Only three moving parts - he said .I am sceptical however i dont think it's all that easy. About 25 years ago somebody showed me the plans for such a conversion. Major headache ! Just forget it and wait for GM to come out with E - cars.
