Why is Griffey excluded from all of this juicing talk? The other day I posted a simple question that asked about his massive weight gain. The answers were quite funny, like, he's just getting older", or " have you seen his dad"? or, "yea, but its not all muscle like Baroid. All I know is that Jr got huge, but, maybe its like some people say, he is just getting older. When I get older, I sure hope to gain a huge chest, shoulders and biceps like him. Honestly, I would not blame Grif for starting, I mean he is by far the best player of our era, but is oveshadowed by juice heads. But please stop saying that he hasnt gained alot of weight, cause the guy got HUGE.

You are correct on two counts, 1) He is certainly without a doubt one of the greatest players of our era and in fact in basball as a whole and 2) I would not say that he gained weight I would say that he has bulked up which weight gain is a part of. I think that we have to remember how much the game has changed over the years. The fences are farther out and the pitches are fior the most part much faster. Not quite as easy in my opinion to do what he has done and he deserves all the credit. By the way keep an eye on A-Rod, he is next in line in my opinion. In any case, at the end of the day, isn't Baseball great

Personally I don't think he used anything. If he did he wouldn't have missed so much time with injuries and his numbers would be higher. I mean he still could have gotten injured but if he was on steroids or HGH the chanes of him getting the injuries he had wouldn't have been as high. Like the ankle injury when he was running around third base a few years back, steroids wouldn't have allowed that to happen because he would have been a little stronger and able to withstand some of the injury. Also in all honesty he's not HUGE,true he is bigger than he was 5 or 10 years ago but he's not HUGE by any means. His homerun numbers are still around what they were when he was healthy in Seattlle so the steroids adding power issue should be non-existent.

See, this is what baseball has brought about because of their lack of action years ago. Everyone is now under a cloud of suspicion and for those guys who never used a supplement, it's got to be extremely frustrating.
The fact is most people gain weight as they age. Griffey, being an athlete, may have started hitting the weight room at some point to try and keep his body in some sort of shape. I don't know, but it's possible. It's also possible he's taken HGH. Again, I don't know and neither do you. That's one of the results of a situation like this - it's easy to accuse and that sticks in people's minds. Once accused it's sometimes hard to erase that stain, even when you've never been proven guilty.

It is a funny thing. One thing the media campaigns tell us is that steroid usage can lead to physical fragility -- muscles too strong for their tendons and bones, really -- and that can lead to injuries.
Griffey gets a free pass from any steroid allegations, partly because the media luvs him, but also because for most of the boom years, he was too busy being injured and frail to put up any big, fat numbers.
Now, those are two dots that someone could connect, and with a better line of logic than "Iraq" and "WMD" and "9/11" (which, admittedly, doesn't take MUCH better logic, since that one was pure fantasy).
I don't know or care if Griffey took any Chemical X (I rather doubt it) or if he ended up paying a physical price for it. But yes, he's gotten a free pass. Hey, no one much likes beating up on the kid who cheated on the Biology exam and still got a D for his efforts.

Well, he is getting older. Look at any player throughout history at age 37 compared to age 22.
But, your question does raise the important point that we cannot assume that ANYONE didn't use steroids or HGH. I don't recall anyone ever accusing Troy Glaus of using and now we have evidence he was receiving HGH. Because they players resisted testing for so long, they are left with a cloud of suspicious over every single one of them.
We have to take that into consideration when people are singling out someone like Barry Bonds for their scorn.

With age comes extra pounds, unfortunately. However Jr. weight gain is nothing like Bonds. Jr.'s head did not double in size nor did his numbers suddenly double over night. He looks more and more like his father every day and, to me that's a natural thing. I'd like to think that Jr. has a lot of integrity and respects the game. It's clear that Bonds doesn't.

I personally don't think Jr has been juicing. With the whole steroid issue, almost anybody in the game is gonna get accusations of being juiced. I think jr has been working in gym myself.
