The lock on my bedroom door is supposed to keep people out, right? It has a little tab you turn to lock it on the inside, but on the outside part of the knob, there is a little slit, not designed for a key, just a little area, where u can stick virtually anything around the same size, a comb, a ruler, even a fingernail, and u can turn it from the outside to unlock it.

Does anyone know of anything that i can do so that people cant open from the outside? it kinda destroys the point of having it, because no one in my house knocks

Yeah, the people in my house are a big problem. They don't even knock on the bathroom door, it's ridiculous. But whenever i try to explain to them the problem, no one seems to care.

What you have described is a privacy door knob, like for on a bathroom. The knob is designed like that as a safety feature for emergency's. If you want privacy, the best would be replace the knob with a keyed entry set available at any hardware store. Prices are usually anywhere from $10.00 to over $100.00, depending on name and quality

The only quick fix answer is to put up a hook lock on the INSIDE of your door. There's no privacy protection when you're not in there, but at least you'll be able to keep people out when you are.

Doors that lock have to be unlocked for safety. What if there is a fire, you are overcome by smoke, and your parents cannot get your door open?

You can always change the door knob, or jam something in that hole to make it less accessible. Best of luck to you.

Put a little hook and eye inside the door.

The problem isn't with your lock, the problem is with the other people in your house and their lack of respect for other's privacy.

Wait until no one is home to masturbate and no one will disturb you.
