How many times have you really felt like doing something, but backed off because you were concered to what the people would say, gossip or think about you?

Why cant we all just live to an extent and not care what other people think about us?Why is it everytime when I want to do something I have to think about what people would think about me before I take action?
Or when I'm about to say something I have to be sure of what I'm really talking about before someone grabbs a ''word'' and turns it against me.
Is our Reputation that important?
The answer is yes,you may say your the type who doesn't care about what people say or think about, and you live your life cause its your ''life'' not theres, but how many times have you really chosen to stay in your seat rather go out there and challenge them?

Reputation is very important. It is really all you have. I mean people treat you and think of you certain ways because of the rep you have. So in the long run and at the end of the day if you don't have a good reputation you really don't have much. Most people who say they don't care what people think are either young and don't realize what a bad rep can do to your future or they want to do something so bad that claiming they don't care helps them justify what they are doing.

I would say it must be a good reputation. Good reputation gives you honor. Since you carry your name you must protect it with all dignity and principle. It is your reputation is at stake. I make it a point that i won't step on others shoes so as not to hurt others. This very important because you will be leaving a good name with your children. A good reputation marks respect from other people. This for me is crucial in carrying one's name. I don't want myself to be tainted with a bad reputation for it marks like an indelible ink that could hardly be lost. That is the essence of having a good reputation.

Reputation is something you give yourself by what actions you take. If you act out of fear of other people's judgments, then you'll have a false reputation or a wrong representation of who you really are. So you'd be doing yourself a disservice in that regard.

So it's important to live by your own standards. If you don't agree with something it's better to speak out, than to sit by and let it bother you. That's the most important. In essence, status, fitting in, etc... should never override your integrity.

I 'feel' that my reputation is important but it really annoys me because there are times when I too feel like doing something that I normally don't do but I'm afraid of what people will think of me. I often find that I'm free to establish a new reputation from myself when I'm with new people who don't know me.

If you walk down the street and don't make it a habit to see others looking at you or whatever then your reputation is not such a big deal. If you are consumed with how you look or what others think of you then your rep is paramount. I would much rather live in peace then to constantly worry what others think of me. It all fades in the end anyway except for your character and your peace of mind.

I do what I want. Nothing harms my reputation much because I dont have any intent on doing something wrong... people need to stop worrying so much about what people think of them- to an extent its ok to worry, anymore than that and you have an obsession.

Because we live in a world of people who enjoy stereotyping, there's no single answer to this question.

No matter how flawless your personality or actions might be, you'll always encounter others who are jealous or envious of your traits, talents or mannerisms.

BE TRUE TO YOURSELF!

This way you have the choice of being embraced or rejected, but are confident in knowing that you aren't a phony!

Do you want your surgery done by Dr. Drinks-a-Lot?

Are you going to put your money in the bank where Mrs. Snitch-a-Penny works?

Would you stop by and pick up a hamburger from the place where Booger-Picker Jones works?

Do you want your loved ones handled by the Swamp-Dumper Funeral Home?

Reputation IS everything, especially in our professional lives.

g-day!

People care because there are often consequences associated with what people will do. Anyone who is concerned about rejection, will care what others think. Any who is concerned about embarrassment, will care about what others think. Anyone who is concerned about being alone, will care about what others think, etc. Anyone who has experienced hardship through to violence will care about what others think.

When you let go of your concerns, other people's judgments become unimportant in your day to day life.
