I would have answered the same way the above people did too, if it had not been for your snide remark.
Maybe you should try actually giving the details of your question rather then thinking that people are fools for not being able to read you feeble little mind.

These days, unlike when I was a kid through the early 1970's or so, there are 5 starters.
You have at least 1 closer.
A good team normally tries to have 2 set-up men (one righty, one lefty) for the 7th-8th innings so the starter can get by with 6 good innings, unlike my younger days when there were so many more complete games.
And you need 1-2 "long-men" to get you through a game when your starter has absolutely nothing.
That's 9.
Add in a back up or two, a situational pitcher who can come in to just get out a righty or lefty batter stuck in the middle of an otherwise opposite sided batting team or, in the National League, where there is more batting lineup changes because they do not have the DH, or extra set up pitchers or a good pitcer that can also close just in case any of your relievers have been overworked in recent days, and you have 10-12 pitchers.

Most baseball teams are carrying as many as 12 on their rosters. So many pitchers in the past have ruined their arms, and careers, that they are not pitching as much as the old timers used to.

It will give the guys who haven't pitched in awhile some work or game time, and give the starter some rest this late in the season.
