My son used to do that, too, until we switched to using only kosher beef hot dogs. He's fine with those. We figure it must be some additive that he's reacting to in the non-kosher hot dogs - probably related to his milk allergy.
Try kosher & see how he does.

I'll lay odds that he's not chewing up his hot dog well. Lots of boys swallow bigger chunks than they should. 8 hours later and it's still there, and the stomach rebels.
Or maybe his stomach just don't want hot dogs. I'm 51, and can eat anything at McDonalds except an Egg McMuffin, which will make me spew it every time. Still, though the fact that it stays down 8 hours would indicate he's not chewing well.
Or maybe he's sneaking food. One 5 year old got sick a few hours after dinner, we had had cheesburgers. His vomit looked a lot like Oreos....when I checked the Oreos the pack was empty. Good Luck.

The food should be digested long before 8-10 hours. The only way it wouldn't be is if he's taking HUGE bites and swallowing them. His stomach may then be rebelling because it's having trouble processing those huge chunks.
Start treating him like he's younger again and cutting up his food in apprpriate bite-sized pieces and make sure he understands about chewing his food well before swallowing. Often in situations kids are so excited to be doing other things rather than eating, they forget to chew. Make him sit in a quiet place to eat.
On another note... do you know the kinds of things hot dogs have in them? Try substituting veggie dogs ( a little more expensive but a lot easier on your health), kids hardly ever even know the difference between the two!

Obviously something in the hot dog does not agree with your 4 year old, perhaps it could be an additive like a preservative or a colouring. Simply don't feed them to her if that is the case, or contact the makers of the hot dogs and ask questions about the ingredients or look on the packet to see what is in them. Failing gettting anywhere there you could have her allergy tested and contacting your local doctors would be a good start for help. Hope this helps.

Now why would you want to eat 10 year old hot dogs except once when the power went out for 4 days? If u have a death wish there are other inventive ways to achieve your wish. Go buy some fresh hot dogs from the butcher or the store. Bon Appetite

Hot Dogs contain lots of crap for the most part. Some are better quality than others, some contain more real meat while other contain loads of crap and filler.
Hot Dogs are basically the left over bits too ugly to sell as anything else.
Hot Dogs use lots of different chemicals and have been proven to be linked with causing brain cancer. No kid should eat them. When you are an adult you can decide yourself what risks to take.
A lot of hot dogs are fatty or greasy, and sometimes its the fat or grease that upsets their stomach.

Sorry to hear this, mom. There IS a co-relation to what is happening. The items eaten may have been tainted. Poor little kid! Keep records of what was eaten and report to your/the child's doctor. I don't have enough space to inform you more, but it be careful when eating out... many foods sit too long before people eat them. On the other hand, be careful of the meats in your refridge for the same reason.
Hot dogs are very spicy in the fact that there is a lot of greasy crud in them...like sausage, salami, jerky, KFC, tacos, etc. [little one's tummys are 'picky' still; be careful with condiments/spices]
Do consult with a Dr. so that the solution can be found and your little one won't have to suffer any longer. Best wishes!

Usually kids are genetically designed so that if something makes them sick they will never eat it again.
Hot dogs is just fatty meat by product. Perhaps look at the other preservatives and such that are in the hot dogs. Google them to see if they come up as allergies.
Usually the body will digest all fat in 8-12 hours of consumption. Hard to imagine the hot dogs sitting in his belly that whole time, what did they look like?

Sounds like coincidence to me. At 8 - 10 hours I would hav thought the hot dogs were almost ready to exit his body a lot lower down!! If I eat something that my stomach doesn't agree with its back within about an hour, if not less.

Maybe hot dog does not agree with his stomach, try not feeding him the hot dogs he may not digest them to well all food is not met for everyone. I as well can not digest hot dog so I stay away from them. Consult a doctor if you have further concern. It is always good to know what food a child can eat or not.

My Daughter used to do this as well. with hot dogs and certain sandwich meats. She couldn't eat processed meats at all until she outgrew her reaction to it. Something about whatever they used to process it affected her immature stomach.
EDIT: She also would throw up hours after eating them, sometimes immediately. I don't think her intestines could digest the chemicals and that's why hours later she would throw up.
