Proper is that , this jerk quits saying that to you. I think Miss Manners has said, cut one piece at a time. I cut a few pieces at a time.

You can be proper and still cut 3 or 4 pieces at a time. Cutting it all at once is what is not proper.

It's not rude, just not proper. Do whatever you want at home, but when you are out you cut one at a time. Unfortunately poor table manners at home usually follow into the restaurant.

Personally, I think that 2 or 3 cut up pieces on your plate are just ok as long as you will eat them up soon and will not dawdle over your plate. More than that will make it look as if you are feeding a child and not an adult. Remember, too, that not everyone loves to eat meat. Cut up pieces of meat may not look that good to others, especially to vegetarians.

Tell your friend to mind his own business and because you are not eating with your feet he should be happy..

I believe it is one piece at a time. But unless I plan on dinning with the queen, I cutting it all up at once..

I don't eat meat, but when I'm eating something, I usually cut several pieces at once. I'm weird that way.

I don't care what anyone else thinks, if I have a steak, for example, I cut the whole thing. I really don't care what anyone says. I chew with my mouth closed, don't talk with my mouth full, and eat quietly, that's all that I owe anyone in the name of manners.

It is considered improper, but if at a family member's house or someone you know personally, then they are being too tight on it and don't deserve to pick on you. The only place it is considered an embarrassment is a restaurant.

Properly means you only cut three pieces at a time.

I like to cut all my meat up at once, and then eat it. I don't like the repetition of "cut, chew, cut, chew." If someone thinks I'm rude for that, they can suck a lemon.
