We took up days at the General Assembly of U.N. trying to CON(vince) the voting panel with false evidence and bullying those countries that didn't swallow our lies. We ridiculed and humiliated Hans Blix(WMD inspector in Iraq) at every turn when we didn't like his evidence. We screamed about broken U.N. resolutions as a cause for war. Israel repeatedly breaks U.N. resolutions and we NEVER bring the same pressure to bear on this country! Why? Israel was also most eager for us to declare war on Iraq but has not contributed with a single soldier. Why not? They also want us to tackle Syria and Iran. Are we Israel's surrogate army? Is this foreign country dictating our foreign policy? Did the false evidence about the presence of WMD originate from the Israeli intelligent services and not our own?

I knew that it would only be a question of a few seconds before someone started slinging the antisemitic slur around. How simplistic. How do you know that I am not Jewish?

And no,I haven't made up my mind. I really want to know why we can never criticize Israel(the sovereign country and state) . Our first duty is to ourselves and our citizens, not to those of another country.

Quite frankly, I think we tone down anything negative that we say about Israel because the AIPAC hands out money big time to politicians.

The reason is because Iraq was in violation of a Security Council Resolution, while Israel has only General Assembly Resolutions against it. They don't mean anything really, it's just what the rest of the world would like to see happen, but if it is not a Security Council Resolution Israel can continue to do what it does without interference from the international community.

Well, until we get the true answers to these questions you ask ,I'd say that it looks as if Israel knows how to get us to do what it wants us to do.

I appreciate a serious question that assumes that we all know that talking about the sovereign state of Israel is not the same as talking about people who practice the Jewish religion or who are of Jewish descent. I never fail to be surprized at how many people do actually confuse one with the other.

Based on its intelligence network, the Vatican asked us not to go to war and invade Iraq but we did so anyway. Does that make every Catholic Italoamerican suspect of treachery. No.

If we don't equate Vatican policy with Italoamericans why do so many fall in the trap of equating a criticism of Israeli policy with dissing Jewish Americans or Jewish people in gral.?

it's obvious that you've already made up your mind on this question, so why bait people into arguing with you by asking it?
