Wow, be very careful. Sounds almost as if your parents are attempting to get you to sign your parental rights over to them. You will NO LONGER BE THE MOTHER TO THAT CHILD! Your parents will then be able to have complete control over your baby. If your comfortable with that fine, but if you don't like that idea call your county and see what programs are available.

My daughter was 15 when her son was born and he has medical benefits through the state.
I would NOT let your parents adopt your daughter just to get medical. If you do then you longer have control over your daughter. DO NOT DO THAT.
I do not think they can get in trouble. only if they say they are adopting her for other reason then to give her medical insurance..
If you are 17 then I would take my baby and move out, The state will help you with day care when you start working and/or help you will schooling to finish high school if you haven't, and you will get a lot of help with grants when you go to college..

Here in Oregon your child can get on the Oregon health plan.
If your parents adopt your child... they will then become the parents. Even the birth certificate will say they are the birth parents. My husband was adopted and we are now adopting a child. If you are not wanting to give up your child then you need to check all of your facts first. Pick up a phone book and start looking for numbers to call. Most phone books have numbers for medical, food stamps, welfare and others too. And there is a good chance that if you call one of them and ask for a number to help you out, they might beable to redirect you.

It depends on what state you live in but you should be able to get medicaid for you and your daughter., and maybe her daddy too. Go to your local Department of Human Services (DHS) office, they should be able to help you out and answer all your questions and get you enrolled in your state medical plan. In Oregon minor parents can get the Oregon Health Plan (same thing as medicaid) and it actually covers more than the military does.

Do you realize that if you let your parents adopt your daughter you give up all rights to her? Talk to the people at Social Services about Medicaid. Find an organization that helps teen parents in your area. Planned Parenthood should have contact information. Do not take such a serious step without considering your options.

I was underage when my daughter was born, and while I was still on my dads insurance. My daughter was on state insurance, till my husband was able to get a good job with insurance.
I would go to your local social service dept and sign up.
There is no reason unless you want to give up your child, for your parents to adopt her. If they adopt her, then you and her father, lose all rights to her and they can move or do anything with her and you wouldnt have a say.
Don't let them, go and apply for benefits.

Call the number on the back of your parents' insurance card to ask their insurance company if the child of the insured's dependent's child (if you live with your parents and are covered on their insurance) can be covered on their policy. Many insurance companies will not offer coverage, but it is worth checking before you consider a drastic step such as adoption.
Check with your local health department to determine if assistance is available in the form of health care. Our state provides immunizations and flu shots. You may qualify for Medicaid. A crisis pregnancy center is likely to have more information as one of the primary goals of such places is to encourage mothers to have their babies.

If you have a low income your child can recieve medicaid. Your parents aren't being truthful. It has nothing to do with your age. Go to the welfare office an apply.

what about actually getting a job that has benefits so you can support your own child?
in the US military a child does not have to be adopted to become eligible for benefits. you can do guardianship instead.

My wife (girlfriend at the time) and I had our first child at 15 years old. We turned to Social Services and had medicaid. Also, try to find out what Adolescent Parenting Programs there are in your area. I was part of (and helped out in) several different ones. If you want, contact me at promettente1985@yahoo.com. I would love to help out as much as I can. Take care and good luck.
