If we have latter day prophets who STILL commune with God in a very intimate way, why have we not received any new "scripture" (physically present in the D&C) for nearly 30 years? It seems that the LDS culture with respect to revelation has shifted ever so slowly since it's conception: Where we once had mighty prophets like Smith & Young who echoed powerful, authoritative revelations from God we now have "presidents" who in the spirit of "Public Relations" passively mutter "advise" from their guts.

Perhaps one of the reasons we have not had any new canonized scripture for a while is that many of us don't even read the scriptures we have already! Maybe the Lord would be more willing to bless his people with additional revelation when they can demonstrate that they are ready to receive it. Besides, everything is done in the Lord's time. It may be 29 years since Official Declaration 2 was given, but remember that 88 years elapsed between OD1 and OD2. When the Lord sees prudent, I'm sure he will reveal something new. In the meantime, study what he has given us to know for now.

The answer seems already to be known to you. Why do they have Presidents and not men like Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. Joseph Smith was a Prophet wasn't he according to Latter Day Saint Doctrine, who recieved revelation directly from God. Well through the angel Moroni actually. Today "Presidents nare not prophets as can be seen from the words that come forth from them.
You also can recieve revalation from god if you only prepare yourself properly and approach him with humility and respect
and ask the Question you want to Know. Do we really need to continually recieve revlation when there is already so much available.e.g The old Testament, The new Testament, The Qu'ran The Book of Mormon, D & C . Read them the answers aere all there for this life and the next

My Allaah reward you and guide you in your search

It was already decided years and years ago.

And your astute observation is noted.

The Sealed Portion has been translated. Miraculously, we found out about it. I have read it, and it changed my life--literally--almost every aspect of my life. I was a "molly mormon" front-row member for 36 years and left in a matter of a few weeks of reading the book. I didn't want to, but could not deny the truthfulness of The Sealed Portion. The Book of Mormon is true, and Joseph Smith was a true prophet. The TSP explains the truth in plainness.

Polygamy and different uninformed feedback get previous. i become uninterested in listening to the comparable previous trash. and a few human beings have faith it! i myself felt solid some years in the past while a non-LDS pal of mine got here to me and advised me he switched church homes through fact of me and my kin. it form of feels his community 'Christian' church as quickly as a month had the sermon committed to bashing the Mormons. He advised the pastor that he knew too many solid Mormons and knew that what he replaced into announcing replaced into crap. So he left to pass to a distinctive Christian church. right this is a few thing to think of roughly... interior the call of freedom of speech, isn't it unusual that human beings can publicly defile what LDS human beings view as sacred, can unfold lies and rumors approximately LDS human beings adn their faith - yet there are rules that say human beings can not ridicule homosexuals, the Koran, and so on. while a guy does a criminal act, the papers not at all point out his faith - except he's LDS. form of unhappy isn't it?

The prophets still write..See their words in the Ensign. Also scripture.

I don't agree with your "from their guts" statement. But that is always the easy way out when current prophesy has not yet come to pass. Although I think that some very recent prophecies are coming to pass right now.

We have been blessed by the Proclamation to the World. When a profound and authorative declaration like that has been digested, we will have others. In due course I believe it will eventually be included in the D&C.

well , the question can be used on why the bible isnt getting new scriptures for near 2000 years

remmeber not all early scriptures is compiled into the bible , so what make these people choose what is to be compiled or not .

is those scriptures that are not use , crap and full of useless informations ?

or does this scriptures repeat the teachings ? there are several teachings in the bible that are merely rephrased and usually used in defense that they are no contradictions.

or could it be that some scriptures teaches more path to salvation or tolerance but people choose to throw and burn it away so that they can gain more control over people ?
