Is it better to leave the TV on when my grandson goes off to do something or turn it off even knowing within the hour he will turn it on again? Is it worse turning it off and turning on all day long, heating up, cooling down?

Git up Gramps..Sit down..Git up Gramps..Sit down..Git up Gramps..Sit down..Git up Gramps..Sit down..Git up Gramps..Sit down....

NOW....I'm SURE you understand why it's better to leave a LAMP on.....

I break my TV watching into 3 distinct time periods of On and OFF....
Morning -- Afternoon -- Evening ....I don't turn it off unless there is a 2 to 4 hour period that I won't be watching TV.

If you're sure he's going to turn it back on it's probably better to leave it on.

I don't have an HDTV and I'm not all that familiar with them, but I would think it better to minimize the number of on and off cycles. It also depends a little on how much electricity it uses. Conventional TVs are pretty power hungry.
