The Blessed Virgin Mary is important to Catholics because the Bible says she is important to God.

+ Mary is the handmaid of the Lord (Luke 1:38), a servant of God just like us.

+ Mary is the first Christian. All other Christians follow her on the road of faith. She is the model for all of us because she actively cooperated with the Will of God by saying "Yes" to God in the plan of salvation.

+ Mary is the model of faith. Mary's faith never wavered throughout Jesus' life, even while watching him die on the cross when most of the Apostles ran away.

+ Mary is full of grace. The angel Gabriel called her, "Full of grace" and said, "The Lord is with you." She is full of grace at that moment; the Lord is with her at that moment, before she says "yes" to the angel's question. Catholics believe the state of grace was with her since her Immaculate Conception. God prepared her for her later role as the mother of Jesus.

+ Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ, of God the Son.

+ Mary is a dwelling place of the Holy Spirit, a tabernacle. The angel Gabriel says to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will cover you with its shadow." (Luke 1:35)

+ God praised Mary through His messenger, the angel Gabriel, "Rejoice, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you." If God and his angels praise Mary, shouldn't we?

+ Jesus honored Mary. Jesus kept the Commandments and did not sin. Jesus fulfilled the Commandment to honor both his father and his mother. WWJD? What would Jesus do? Jesus would and did honor Mary, his mother.

+ The Holy Spirit inspired praises of Mary. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,
cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women," and "Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled." (Luke 1:41-45)

+ The Scriptures tell of Mary's place with Jesus. Mary gives birth to Jesus, presents him to the shepherds, to the wise men, to God in the Temple. She lived with him for many years in Nazareth, intercedes with Jesus in Cana, suffers with him at the foot of the Cross, and prays to him with the apostles in the Upper Room.

+ Mary was a prophet. "Behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me." (Luke 48-49) As Christians who believe the Bible, we must call Mary "blessed."

+ Mary is our Mother too. While he was on the Cross, Jesus said to his beloved disciple (who represents all Christians), "this is your mother." (John 19:27)

I agree with you whole heartedly, she is to be honored and cherished, and that is the Catholic point of view. As the first and most Holy of Saints she is also very close to God, I love the biblical refrences used by someone earlier that proves without a doubt that the title of Mother of God was not thought up.
I take it one step further, who's to say that she is not already with God, when we, the sinners that we are, the disbelievers, are promised entrance into the kingdom fully body and soul, why would she the most perfect of fully humanity would not already be there. She is not divinity and that is also something that the Catholic Church does not promote. That is the reason that we as Catholics pray to her, she is the bride of God, the mother of Christ, and the human demonstration to us Christians as to what an example should be when we worship Christ.
God bless and have a great day.

Hi, Jasonlai:

Did you notice in the Bible that when they picked a replacement for Judas, that no one inquired of Mary... But she was there:

Acts1:14 "These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren."

Why didn't they ask her? Because she was honored like John the Baptist, but her mission was over--she must decrease and Jesus increase. Yes, they cast lots rather than inquire of Mary.

And Mary, although blessed above all women, is quite dead and buried and awaiting the resurrection of the saints. So, who is appearing to Catholics? It is the spirit of devils, working miracles and deceiving the very elect.

definite, there is very lots of hypothesis approximately Semiramis, Nimrod and her son etc. there are various anti-Catholic communities who choose for to assume that using fact of assumed parallels this by some skill proves that Catholicism is purely an extension of paganism. the internet is stuffed with this misguided tips. Catholicism substitute into born out of Judaism. The Jewish human beings have been called, by God, out of their pagan ideals and worship of fake gods. that's common, hence, that a number of the practices and rites might seem to have pagan roots. Pagan practices are in user-friendly terms incorrect using fact they have been to the incorrect god, no longer using fact the acts themselves have been incorrect. Rites and practices interior the worship of the appropriate God are ideal. study the previous testomony, animal sacrifices to the Egyptian gods angered our Lord, yet animal sacrifices to God delighted him. So we could permit for pagan prepare to be the appropriate act to the incorrect god. i'm married. If I passionately kiss a guy who isn't my husband, that's incorrect. The act of kissing isn't incorrect, however the guy I chosen to kiss might make it incorrect. the comparable is going for the pagan practices, who they chosen to worship substitute into incorrect, no longer the certainly act of worship. additionally God's plan for salvation substitute into laid out before the international substitute into even created. God knew and planned that Mary might deliver Christ into the international, that she could be the mummy of the Savior. those issues could be common and perceived early on, and that's not impossible that purely using fact the pagans worshiped the incorrect god additionally they have been given the mummy and son incorrect as properly. there is likewise the very genuine threat that the thoughts surpassed down approximately Semiramis etc. have replaced to verify the Christian tale. Mithraism is a magnificent occasion of this, that's believed that over the years they replaced their ideals to repeat the Christian tale of Christ and the virgin start. that's complicated to handle all that could or is probably no longer. we can not understand for particular what the persons have been thinking on the time, or what they knew. I even have in many situations concept that 5000 years from now what assumptions historians might make approximately our society reckoning on what issues survived.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is unquestionably the most perfect of all God's creation.

What else would anyone expect God the Father to provide for his divine and most holy Son?

It's a real shame that many are so anti-Catholic that they end up being anti-Mary and anti-Christ, as well as being spiritually blind.

Luke 11:27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out. She shouted, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.”
28 He replied, “Instead, blessed are those who hear God’s word and obey it.”

Jesus' reaction to people praising Mary denies the catholic position and reminds us that he KNEW she would be worshiped by later generations.

Yes; sadder still, it's a testament of the times!

Alienation starts with feeling 'disaffected' with one's own family, tribe, ethnic group. This leads to people being 'lost', running around like headless chickens, 'shopping-around' for religions, like they were in a Mall!

It's this consumer-society mentality all over again!

The Catholic Church did not invent the Mother of God title of Mary. The Bible says that she is the Mother of God.

"And the angel answered and said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.' " (Luke 1:35)

"... and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. '... But why is this granted to me, that THE MOTHER OF MY LORD should come to me?' " (Luke 1:41,43) "Lord" was a word used for God, e.g., the pious Jew would pray "There is no God, but the Lord, our God."

Bible says: "blessed are you among woman"
she was hand picked by God to bear the Christ the Savior of the world, and deserves due respect, but.......
the problem of equaling her to Christ Jesus is a different story.
she was not born of immaculate conception , this is not in the bible. You can not pray to God thru her name ...Jesus said pray in "my" name that the father would be glorified thru the son.
I hold her in very high regard but do not equal her to God or Jesus the Christ.

If refusing to call Mary my "co-redemtrix" is wrong, then I am wrong. On the other hand, if refusing to do what scripture does, by calling Jesus your one and only redeemer is wrong; you are wrong. I would rather believe the bible than the circular, self contradicting, and outright deceitful authority claims of Rome.
