I mean think about it, gravity is only a "theory", so that must mean that science has no evidence for it. I think we should look to the bible and disregard what science says, I mean, all scientists are out to abolish christianity anyway. Look at jesus, he walked on water and he ascended into heaven. I mean I should be able to choose if gravity is real or not, we should teach the theory of gravity side by side with the belief that it is some kind of force put here by god in schools and let the kids decide, afterall it is only a theory, I mean, how much merit can a scientific theory have? it isn't like it is backed up by the bible. If you are smart, you will discard science and its false prophets and come to the one true lord.

And in case you guys don't catch on...this is a satire of another debate on another "theory" in science.

gravity IS a theory, how gravity works is a theory. You people seem to think a theory in science has no evidence. this is the definition of theory "It is a statement which based on reliably and accurate evidence, observation, and inferences that logically appears to be true."
My point is, that evolution and gravity are both a theory, and both have substantial evidence. If you say it is not a theory, you are wrong.

busty little bee - if that were true, it would no longer be a theory, now would it. check it out!

Jana11 - wow, what a moron, first you say gravity is not a theory, then you go on to say creationism has more evidence than evolution. Try reading a science book some time eh?

It doesn't matter what you do. There will be some indoctrinated lobotomite who will insist that it is the "Law of Gravity" when, in fact, "The Law of Universal Gravitation" was an assumption that Newton used in his mathematical model. The Theory of Gravitation (preferred terminology) is not as well demonstrated as the theory to which you refer with your satire.

this analogy can only go so far. any fool can observe that things fall down, and demand an explanation. it takes a bit more careful observation to notice that allele frequencies in populations of organisms change over time, or that the fossil record shows that the variety of species present on earth has changed over time, and demand an explanation for those facts. creationists tend not to be satisfied that there is something to be explained, so of course they reject any explanation. perhaps it would be useful to point out that it's not immediately clear that 'things falling down' and 'planets orbiting the sun' are related phenomena: that is, the facts of gravity are more subtle than some people seem to think. this may lead them to wonder whether they really understand the facts of evolution. or not! in the realm of theory, some of them may not be aware that the accepted modern theory of gravity is general relativity, not newton's universal gravitation. it describes gravity as a warping of space by mass/energy, but does not say why this is so, or what causes mass. the theory of evolution is a better theory than general relativity - what genes are, how they are formed, and why they change frequency over time is pretty well described.
the stuff about choosing your own facts and the failure of invoking god as an explanation is quite apt though.

Interestingly, scientists don't know how or why gravity works, they just know it exists... Seriously. Ask any scientists and they will tell you that this is one of the gaping holes in their universal knowledge. There are plenty of ideas but none are proven.
Fascinating...
The most interesting and plausible explanation remains heretical to most scientists - that of the Zero Point Field (Nullpunktfeld) discovered by Einstein but largely ignored until recently. Certain scientists are beginning think that it is this which keeps things held together...
Look into the Zero Point Field - do a Google Search on it. You may be surprised by what you find...:-)

ummm, are you extreme ? cuz this feels like a shaggy dog tale. each and every particularly situations I nonetheless uncertain while all and sundry is extremely stupid, or basically joking. there is not any distincion in gravity between macro and micro. The rules of gravity are the comparable for each merchandise. the element is, that there are 2 distinctive rules. Newtons regulation replaced into the 1st one, that's a much less complicated type, and nonetheless used for straightforward initiatives. the different is Einsteins widely used relativity concept, which takes different factors under consideration, like time. What ever formula you gonna use, it doe snot remember, while you're speaking with reference to the earth orbiting the solar, or human beings leaping interior the air. Its the comparable tension doing the comparable element.

Real science is the observation of events in nature that occur on a repetitive basis to form an inference so that we can predict future behavior. Too often valued judgments are passed off as science. All we know for sure is that we stick to earth. There is a force that causes us to stick. Someone way back there named this force gravity. Scientists are still puzzled how it works. Theories abound but no one really knows. The reason is that all our observations are done with one or more of our five senses. That means that science can only observe in the physical world. Even in that world we are limited because of the massive size of that world. We are limited to the earth and its immediate environs. So the truth is that by scientific observation we hardly know anything about the physical world of the universe. Science does have limits and cannot observe at all in the spiritual realm. Above all things, if science is your god, then know the difference between a true inference and a subjective valued judgment. Too many valued judgments are passed off as science just because Joe Blow the Scientist says so. A real scientist observes and reports what he sees. He sees a painting on the wall. He reports, painting on the wall. That is scientific. If he says the painting is ugly, that is a valued judgment. Amazing how people even believe in evolution since there is no observation of it in the events of nature. A lot of valued judgments going on masquerading as science. I wonder where critical thinking has gone? People are willing to swallow anything as long as it benefits their moral life style.

I would hope that everyone would rather quickly recognize the satirical nature of your post. Of course, the word "theory" as used by a scientist has quite a different meaning than the word typically used in conversation; a scientific theory is backed up by sufficient evidence, and predicts a sufficiency of useful results, as to merit acceptance in the scientific community. Most scientific theories are unproveable (for technical reasons), but the theory of evolution is an interesting exception: it is proveable, and I have done so. REALITY manifests when an input of outside energy or force unites or combines with our own conciosnessness. This is why each of us will perceive phenomonon in different ways. Man will never know what is ACTUALITY.
GOD is ACTUALITY. Each mans REALITY is different.
Knowing the difference brings us a little closer to HIM.
What we percieve as truth, may not be so.
Don`t judge, least ye be judged yourself.
Wisdom can only come to those who realize how much we DON`T know. With an open mind, then we can begin to learn!
There are books and theories about light, electricity, and, gravity, but, we still don`t know what it ACTUALLY is!

Your logic is flawed...that's not a theory. I can drop an item and have it, depending on its weight and volume and mass, fall toward the floor at a relative speed. Only gases lighter than air float and dissipate. Even dust and pollen and moisture has mass enough to obey the "law" of gravity. Everything that goes up...must come down. It would make sense that being as God is the creator of all substance, its molecules and the laws that pertain...if He chose to utilze them in some other manner that would be entirely possible. Science would, in certain instances, have us rely on methods of measurement and criteria that time and again have shown inconsistancy and error based on the theory of a carbon half life and etc. If it can be reproduced, studied and measured it is fact...if it cannot..its theory or at best conjecture. Creation proves itself and is all the evidence it needs as its perpetual and we see it everyday. So your sarcastic diatribe is just more of the same old rhetoric that continues to be spun out by an intellect that has nothing more to grasp at...I don't know why you waste your time. Love in Christ, ~J~

Gravity is not a theory. Take a head-first dive off your roof, then tell me it's a theory.
I saw your words "gravity is only a 'theory'" and stopped reading.
Now that I've actually read the full question, I see you're not as whacko as I thought :-)
A massive body exerts pull upon surrounding satellites.
Velocity increases as a satellite approaches the massive body.
This trajectory determines the orbit of satellites.
Gravity is the law that ties all these things together.
Intelligent Falling is the practice of squeezing one's eyes shut and wailing “Does not!”

Geology shows that fossils are of different ages.
Paleontology shows a fossil sequence, the list of species represents changes through time.
Taxonomy shows biological relationships among species.
Evolution is the explanation that threads it all together.
Creationism is the practice of squeezing one's eyes shut and wailing "Does not!“
