Do you hire a manager because of his religious beliefs? Why would you select a President under different criteria. Religious beliefs are not part of the Constitutional duty of the President. Neither is morality in any manifestation. His job is to protect the best interests of the nation and the populace.

mind-blowing ideal we've over 20 million human beings unemployed, the Dow is suffering to stay above 12K, our housing industry is indoors the tank, nutrients and gas expenses are going up. Romney has plenty greater experience indoors the financial gadget than the empty experience we've. How not worry-unfastened is existence now? How low is our status with a president that has not some thing yet contempt for the middle class, how doubtful are the lives of our infants with an awkward and corrupt guy or woman indoors the Oval place of paintings? I vote for a metamorphosis, by ability of making use of reality I quite have had extremely sufficient of Obama's considered "prefer and regulate".

If the best person for the job were an atheist, then I would vote for an atheist, but I would not vote for just any atheist BECAUSE he or she is an atheist any more than I would vote against a Christian just because he or she were a Christian. As you wrote, it's about finding someone who is qualified, would uphold the Constitution, and look after the best interests of the American people and our allies.

Deeming a person as "the best person for the job" is rather subjective and depends on a voter's judgment. There are minimum qualifications for those who would like to vie for presidency and all official candidates, whether atheist, hindu, buddhist, christian, agnostic, pagan, whatever fit the qualifications.

I have personal preferences and my preferences are not solely based on education and experience. The factors which weigh the most for me are character, integrity and his track record. I cannot personally evaluate one's interest if it is for personal gain or for the nation. Politics is politics, the objective to win is to get the approval of many so most would say popular choices.

Yes, the same way if the best person for the job was Christian I would still vote for them. For me, religion, race or sex aren't the things that I look at when I vote.

EDIT: Oh, and to " 11235813" who said, "You can't run for office if you're an atheist", that's preposterous.

EDIT 2: To "oso_loco1961" who said "No! Because this country was founded and governed on the principals of God", you're wrong. This country was founded on deism.

If I feel he/she was the best person for the job he/she would get my vote..

Religious beliefs should never be a factor in choosing a political candidate.. Their voting record, their platform and their stance on the issues are what tells a voter whether or not they agree with a candidates position..

Religious affiliation has no place in American politics because of the separation of church and state. Nixon was a Quaker. I didn't even know they still had Quakers. Basically I don't care what their religion is. I imagine a Muslim candidate might have a problem getting elected right now.

Yes, a persons religion doesn't matter its what kind of job they do for the people of this country that does. I have seen people who claim to be of a certain religion but certainly don't live by it. As long as a person is a good, honest, caring individual the place they worship, or don't doesn't bother me.

You've made the incorrect assumption that only religious people are voting, however, any leader who doesn't hear voices from a magic sky fairy must be the best choice..

The pin heads who vote due to a candidates acceptable religious convictions are..:
1. Pin heads, and
2. Pin heads..

There MUST be no link between the church and the state, or else prepare to revisit the dark ages..
Remember, you are either part of the problem, or part of the solution. Clearly religion has solved NOTHING..

I would vote for the best person for the job. When you think about it most of the people in politics are liars any way! So how do you really know what any of them truly believe?
