Hello.. I'm a 21 yr old female. 5'9 180 lbs. 2 months ago I was having severe heartburn that i had never had before. I visited the doctor and he asked if there was any blood in my stool, I said no, and he prescribed me some acid reducer stuff. Anyway that very night i used the restroom and there was indeed blood.. about 1/2 a cup or more of it in the toilet and on the paper, bright red. I even felt dizzy after. I went to the ER and they examined me, said there was no hemmorhoids or anything.. they kept me over night but only did an xray, blood test, urine sample. The couldnt conclude what it was just said maybe an infection and sent me home. Its been about a month now and I just had some weird anal leakage.. of oil.. i keep having to run to the bathroom and its just yellow/orangey drops of oil in the toilet as if someone poured some italian dressing in it. I havent eaten anything that I dont normally eat, and Ive never had this happen before.. could the two incidences be related?

So, naturally, you thought you'd ask a bunch of drunk people sitting naked at their computer on a Friday night?

There are some things that will cause anal leakage of oil. Indigestible fats. Olestra/Olean. Do you eat any food with Olestra or Olean? I'm not sure if it would actually be on the label, but it would be found in fat-free snack foods. Medicines that prevent the absorption of fat can cause that as well. But I've never heard of it causing blood in stool. I would assume the blood and oil are related and the heartburn as well. Probably make an appointment to see the doctor again.

Other than Olestra, are you taking mineral oil as a laxative.? Are your stools more bulky, greasy or particularly foul smelling? Have you last weight recently? Any jaundice? Any gall bladder disease? Obviously you need to see a doctor, the question is which one?

If gross bleeding continues, I would probably see a colo-rectal surgeon first. If the oil continues, a gastroenterologist would be my first choice.

There are several possible causes ranging from hemorrhoids, or polyps to cancer. A good gastroenterologist can give you a detailed examination using a colonoscope. Hemorrhoids can be treated. Polyps should be removed for biopsy. Another cause can be diverticulitis. Here's link to explain it.

You could have ulcerative colitis or Crohn's colitis. A colonoscopy and an examination from a gastro doctor can help clarify.

bye now, I think your doctor should already had checked for a colonoscopy

if they were not able to find out what was wrong with simple tests then they need to to further tests which the colonoscopy can help find what is wrong

I know of a girl that had the tests after she had some rectal bleeding, the doctor ordered it mainly to find out if she had any internal hemorroids or ulcers
