I am 16 years old right now and in highschool I live in chicago and the laws are about to change for teen drivers, right now if I get a permit I only have to hold it for 3 months and I can get my license but at school I am not taking drivers ed till the end of the 4th quarter and the law will be changed by then and I will have to hold the permit for 9 months!

I want to get my permit as soon as possible before the end of this year, I was wondering if I HAD to take drivers ed in my school or can I go somewhere else to take the class to get my permit so that I won't have to wait 9 months to get the license if so where can I take classes? I can't remember what else to ask so just tell me anything that you think I might need to know
this will help me alot.

Thank you!

You don't have to take driver's ed at your school. You can go to a private company, but they are very expensive. However, if you do not get your license by January 1, you will still have to abide by the new laws. You don't have to be in a driver's ed class to get a permit. You just need the class to get your license. You can get it now, and just keep it until you take your driver's ed in the spring. By then, you'll have the 9 months.

To get your enable, purely bypass to the DMV. i'm 17 and have not began any of that stuff yet, yet all of my acquaintances have performed it. First they took driving force's ed nevertheless, considering which you form of could locate out a thank you to force earlier given the potential to attend to a automobile. And as for the working enable, the consultant on your college's profession midsection can inform you all approximately it. don't be afraid to ask; that's what they are there for. and likewise, i'm helpful a parent could handbook you thru all of this.

The way I read it, it's already too late and the new laws have been signed by the Governor already.
