Interesting question.
I'd like to be black for maybe a day or so, just to see what differences I'd notice. I'd be sort of a cool experiment to see how people would be treated differently.
But I'd want to go back to being white after, probably just cause I'm used to it.

Good for your niece. However, I think her priorities are messed up. Like your if you wanted to live your life over again question. This is a hypothetical. She may wish she were black, but wishes don't change reality. I am white and the way I was raised, you just do to make this world a better place for everyone. I always see questions here about my race. My answer is always the same. There is only one 'race' on this planet, the human race. We come in all colors, religions, sects and whatnot, but we all belong together as one race. Ten thousand years from now, if we survive our glowing need to destroy everything and everyone on the planet, there will only be one 'race' because of intermarriage. In my opinion, of course.

I think I would happily give up my white, burn-n-peal-burn-n-peal skin for that darker, richer color. All colors of skin are beautiful, just that some are harder to live with.

Good luck with your niece, it probably isn't an issue rooted in race. Kids can appreciate the kindness of other people. When the local meanies they are exposed to make their life too miserable, they start to draw comparisons with people in other environments. Sometimes they just happen to be a different race, sometimes they just happen to be in a different city or state. Just remind your niece that "people are people wherever you go" there are good ones and there are bad ones too. The trick is to look for the good in her own hood.

I wish you all the best with her. Good common sense doesn't always work.

Define white and black.

There are Americans with blonde hair and blue eyes who in many states only a couple of decades ago would regarded as being "black" because they had one African ancestor and I'm not talking about Eve!

I am happy with the person I am. Skin color is just part of my genetic history, there's nothing special or significant about it...I just happened to have European ancestors who managed to get laid and keep their genes in the population : )
I would feel the same way if I were black, or asian, or latina. Why shouldn't anyone accept who they are? Why should a phenotype make one difference in how I feel about my self-worth?

I am happy being white, but if I had the chance to be black, then I wouldn't pass it up..
But, I'd also like to be a guy for a day.. you know, just to see how they think... rofl

I wouldn't want the nappy hair and stuff, or being profiled by cops and tossed in jail for gettin' my "thug" on ... wouldn't mind the 12-inch tool, though, so all the hot, blonde, white "mudshark / smokejumper" chicks would be on my jock.

L,

I love myself and who I am. My mother and father instilled that in me as a child, to love myself. My Bible also tell me to do that.

You know it does not matter in God's eyes what color we are, He loves us all. That reminds of of the little children song......"Jesus Loves the Little Children"

Jesus loves the little children
all the children in the world
red, and yellow, black and white
they are precious in His site
Jesus loves the little children of the world!

We are His little children and we should be happy with WHO we are and not worry about the color.

You mean like Lois Lane did in her comic during the 70's? Sure, I would be curious enough to see what it would like to be black for a day or two.

I love being black and have never consider being anything other than black. It's me and I love me.
