An old friend of mine died and the family gave me his booze collection. Some of it's dated back to the late 60's, early 70's.

YES. Whisky will have a high enough alcohol percentage (at least 40%) that it will be fine to drink. That percentage alcohol is too high for other bad things to live and breed in. HOWEVER.. take a look at the lids when you take them off. A lot of old mini's used some cheap metal on their lids and if it's rusted.. look for some rust in your whisky. I personally wouldn't want to drink rusty whisky.

It will be OK. So far no-one has mentioned the main fact. Whisky improves with age in the CASK. Once bottled it does not change, as the bottle is not porous. So it will taste like the day it was bottled. Enjoy!

It's just aged like fine wine...
If his family gave the "collection" to you his good friend, do you really want to just drink it or keep for your own "collection"...
Just buy what you want to drink and add to the "collection" on a super cool tiki bar (?) or whatever kind, and show it off.........
Makes for a great conversation piece...
Hang on to it and enjoy it for years to come...

It should be... as long as it was kept out of sunlight and too extreme temps, it SHOULD be okay.

Better yet, hold onto it as an investment.

yeah it will be, as long as its sealed obviously. but watch what you're drinking - you could be drinking away valuable stuff that you'd be better of selling or saving.
