I think that the anger at illegals and the talk about what to do them comes from the fact that they are a poor and powerless group that are often clearly different. That is a prescription for persecution and scapegoating.

Many of the Americans who have such strong hatred of illegals are Also powerless. They don't have any influence in the things affecting their lives and that is scaring them in this unstable economy. Most often they don't really understand how the world situation affects their lives.

So they take it out on illegals who can't fight back and who are convienent.

Do you ever read anything outside of the US? Try reading something on the illegal immigration problems in Europe. There are countries over there that are having the very same issues that we are having and people are saying the same things. This isn't solely an American/Mexican/and all other illegal immigrant issue.

Please explain to me WHY it is such a BAD thing for us to wish to retain even a minute amount of control over how our schools spend their money - how our taxes are spent - what languages we get to hear when we make a phone call without pressing 1 - or wait - how about - why is it so wrong for us to wish to have a bit of control over our own laws being upheld...........

So - are we TRULY persecuting innocent people or scapegoating or are we truly making attempts to defend ourselves and our way of life as we have created it?

Would you defend your personal home if someone were to make an attempt to come in and take what they wanted because your home was nicer and had a full fridge or would you say - oh yeh - come on in - make yourself at home - let me put your name on my checking account since you have nothing of your own and can't take care of yourself - be honest with yourself.

If those that come here illegally have the inner strength to make that journey to get here - why do they not exhibit that same inner strength to create a better way of life where they are? If they have the same determination and fortitude to makes changes in OUR country - why do they not exhibit that same determination and fortitude to make changes in their birth country??

That's a take..but the real reason is that far too many illegals are crossing the border. Back in the last century a few came over, a few went back...some stayed, some didn't. The numbers weren't large and the problems were managable. Now we're faced with a flood that will only grow over time. The US simply can't absorb everyone from everywhere. People are noticing that it's getting more and more crowded in the cities, social services are overtaxed, crime by illegals is becoming a significant factor in law enforcment. All anyone is asking is that the law be enforced. Certainly Mexico enforces its immigration laws, as does every other country. It has nothing to do with 'hatred' or 'taking anything out'. The practical considerations are what's at stake...all the arguments to the contrary are BS.

People who are against illegals are not against them are individual people but against their actions.
~Do you feel it is right for someone to work in this country who has not got the visa/paperwork to do so?
~Do you feel that person who does not pay into the system should be able to have all the benefits that it is suppose to support Americans and legal immigrants?
~Do you like the fact they take school places for children, who have no right to be in that system?

Are YOU prepared to pay more in taxes to provide these services for these people?

At the end of the day they have broken the law, and should be treated accordingly.

Quote "Many of the Americans who have such strong hatred of illegals are Also powerless"
A. We are not powerless we have the right to vote, with the vote you can voice your opinion on who you feel can do the best job at dealing with issues like this. By standing and saying nothing any doing nothing that is being 'powerless'

A voice of one when joined with many makes a powerful voice.

I think that often the most boisterous of the antis fall into the group of personally challenged, but, I don't think that is the group we have here, necessarily.

On a day-to-day basis, an undocumented is more likely to be "harassed" by his neighbor, or, his peer at work than by someone that is driving by, or is going home to use the computer. I would think that harassment of undocumented definitely comes from people that live/work in close conditions, and, yes, they are personally threatened.

I think that a lot (not all) of the antis on here are not in competition with them at all, but, they are also a bit older and they feel that the secondary culture is a danger for the future of their children and grandchildren. Also, they believed in & paid into social security, and, now that they are nearing retirement age, they realize that it may not do them any good. They see the expenditures and are concerned about how themselves or their children will retire. The expenditures to the undocumented are seen as a cause for their insecurities.

The real motivation for antis. as you put it. Is the fact that these people (from what ever country they come from) are here illegally. They broke the law, get it. Using our health care systems, schools and welfare systems. With out contributing to the cost of such programs. Some act like, we some how owe it to them. What we owe them is a trip back to were ever they came from..........Now ''moody trojan" no not all pro-illegals supporters are hispanic. My last name is Garza, I have family that fought and died in the Alamo, The Civil War, WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam and Beirut,Lebanon. La Raza and LUAC don't speak for me. If anything they are a embarrassment to me. I was born here as my father before me was. I served ten years in the Marine Corps. That said, the issue of illegals is one were there are no short answers, but you have to start some where. that some were is our boarders. As far as the illegals who can't fight back. Why should they fight back. That would require effort on their part. They would have to get involved in something. If they didn't take the time to get involved in their own countries, to change it for the better. Just what in the heck makes you think they would bother to do it here.

Speak for yourself. I am not powerless in this situation. Every day I go to work and stand on the border tasked by this country to keep it safe. Every day I sort through the people who have a legal right to be here (be they visitors, citizens or legal immigrants) and look for the people who do not have a right to be here. That is my job. Every day we find people lying to us about their intent of stay, lying about how they do not plan to work, lying to circumvent Federal Law.

Then I get off work and I see thousands of people who entered this country on a lie marching through the streets yelling "I'm Illegal so what?" or "I demand my rights as a resident" Of course they are not carrying American flags, it is my job to assimilate to them.

Like I said, I am not powerless. If you tell me I am illegal, so what? I will show you what. If you enter this country under false pretenses in violation of Federal Law (The Immigration and Naturalization Act) I do not care what country you are from, I will send you home. There are many LEGAL ways to enter and stay in this country. I help people do it every day.

So don't tell me they are taking jobs Americans don't want. If someone tells me they are "too good" for work they don't deserve a Welfare or unemployment check. Don't tell me our economy is dependant on them and prices will spike. The reason employers take them is because they are using pay supression. They pay them cheap wages, but still charge the consumer full price. The only pockets getting lined is greedy business owners. I fully support punishing them as well. I know because I hired landscapers recently and the companies using day laborers and the companies using citizens charged the same. I know when we send people home we take a poll of what work they were doing. I have never met one who worked in the fields, I have met plenty of restaraunt workers, contsruction, landscapers and technical professions though. All professions that are good jobs and many Americans would like. I even did some to get myself through school.

Don't tell me how the world economy works, it is part of my job. Instead get rid of your romantic ideas of illegal immigration, put down your books, stop watching TV and go look in the real world. It is a lot different out here.

No Sigy that is not the real motivation.

The real motivation is what has been relentlessly stated, and has been consistently ignored by you and others:

1. Criminal act, disrespecting our laws and regulations
2. Jumping in line ahead of those who do things legally
3. Non tax paying
4. Leeching off the system, costing taxpayers billions
5. Increases in crime, auto accidents, requiring additional resources (translation services, etc.)

Please don't play armchair psychologist over the internet with people you do not personally know.

You are not qualified.

I think that is not a motivation but a historically accurate assessment of past persecutions. But just because those picked on unfairly in the past satisfy a demographic test doesn't mean that if that group breaks the law and steals other people's education, health care and retirement security, that it is unfair to be against that.

In other words, some marginal and marginalized people who need someone below them may do that, but when you get overwhelming majorities in the US against illegal immigration in every poll run, that is neither a marginalized group, nor indicative of the same mental process.

Mexicans and Mexican Americans with educations and positions of power are inciting the uneducated workers to invade the US, our Government is allowing them to do this.

They freely and openly call for invasion, civil war, and the taking of America from us and the uneducated workers are listening and obeying. They call for a population increase from the workers and they are breeding.

This is not scapgoating. The illegals can and are fighting.
There is no fighting "Back" for the illegals, they are starting the fight.
We are not going to Mexico and refusing to accept their laws, the people who need to fight back are the American citizens.
You sound like someone who does not understand the world or the worlds history of invasion.

I really cannot speak for every anti-illegal out there but your supposition does not fit me at all. It does not fit anybody else I know but I do think you have a point. Fear is a powerful motivator for many emotions and for those that honestly believe they are powerless or lacking influence, I think hatred would develop.
