I never played any of the resident evil games until i got resident evil 4 for PS2, I just started it and i have to say that it wasn't what i expected. If the whole game is like the first 10 min. of gameplay then i am disappointed. Maybe shooters just aren't my bag of chips. I just don't like the way the game was made. It seems slow and dull with a bunch of moronic zombies trying to kill you. What are your opinions?

Actually i played more of it today and reached the first boss fight. It's getting better but i still find god of war more visually amazing and i enjoyed the jak and daxter games more. I guess i'm just a sucker for a good platformer game.

You have to spend more than 10 minutes on the game to appreciate the game.

The game starts out simple just so that you can get used to the game. It's not going to give you a major boss fight right away.

The zombies are stupid early in the game because the game makers don't want you to get frustrated with the game if you get killed too often. As you kill the zombies, you get the feeling that you're making progress which gets you to keep playing the game.

Play the game for an hour and so, and you'll see why it's one of the best games for the PS2.

If you like good plat-former/action games here are some of my favorites:
Ratchet & Clank (1-3), my personal favorite
Wolverines Revenge
Castlevania (Lament of Innocense)
Star Wars Bounty Hunter
Beyound Good & Evil
Devil May Cry, (1-3), my personal 3rd favorite
Onimusha (1-4**3&4 are better because they use the left analog stick to move the characters rather than the D-pad)
God of War (1&2)
Shadow of the Collosus
Tomb Raider (Legend & Anniversary)
Sphinx
Now about RE4. First of all it's not a shooter, it's an action game. Granted it doesn't move quite as well as Jak & Daxter, but it is a truely great game that is far superior to its predisessors (all the other RE games) It is also challenging, the monsters get better and better as you get further along in the game. Then once you've beaten the game, you can play through as Ada and when you beat that you unlock the "Chicago Typewriter"!!!! Then you can replay the main game as Leon with it and that is awesome!!!!!
RE4 is my personal 2nd favorite game of all time and for good reason, it was EGM's game of the year over God of War when it first came out!!!

Resident Evil 4 is one of the better games, both in the RE series and for the PS2. I personally liked the over-the-shoulder camera perspective, and the game was fun all throughout. However, it is not as scary as some of the previous games.

You're talking about a game that won game of the year on X-play. The game play is a bit slow in the first minutes, but this allows you to adapt to the gameplay. Later on the challenges are plenty.

It is a great game, it is true that can be boring at first, try to focus on the details when nothing happens and besides if you keep playing it will grow on you, the next stages and enemies will be far more challenging and scary, you will also see amazing effects, try to give it a chance, the game is way long so... Something you will like I guess...

It's obviously not your bag. A game like that doesn't receive the positive press and reviews and sales numbers it did because it's boring. Then again, a good game isn't necessarily a perfect game that everyone will love. Prime example: sports games. I think they're utter wastes of money offering next to no advancement to justify their price, but they sell like they're going outta style and get great reviews.

Give it a chance, there are some truly awesome moments in this game. It didn't get the incredible ratings it did for nothing. This game is one of my all-time favorites.
